And yet, physical sales of PC titles is way down, but digital sales are up. The reason mostly is due to distribution services offering, frankly, cheaper deals overall for digital copies of the games themselves.
The music industry has shown a bit of durability that the gaming industry does not really have, namely because of convenience and the fact that the clientele are very tech savy to recognize the relative easy of downloading vs physical representation. Why lug a disk for a car radio when you can plug n a USB? You get more songs that way and its automatic shuffle.
Digital distribution is going to be the norm for both PC and console in the future, while physical disks, if any exist, will be a collectors item at best. In regards to super collector editions like this one, it might become a novelty that's going to be in very limited quantities, which is probably why were seeing the lack of physical copies of this edition overseas
That might be true for PC gaming, but with the reaction to Microsoft's XB1 announcement I can't see the console market moving quickly to digital media, its taken a decade to get to this point and anyone I know personally that is moving to a digital purchases for their games are moving to PC gaming over consoles while the people I know that own consoles are buying physical copies.
