Well then let me set you a direct example. I'm from Slovenia. Which is a country directly next to Italy and Austria. Both have Game Stops- none of them ship it here. And even if they did...well I probably wouldn't buy it anyway - localized versions and all that, which would be, as you can imagine - at least in regards to the Collectors Editions - very unfortunate, since I have only rudimentary knowledge of Italian language, from learning Latin and almost no knowledge of German.

 

I'm more than a little disappointed at the situation. But I know that I have no intention on buying a digital copy from a publisher, who doesn't offer me the option to buy a physical copy of a game (even if that game is from one of my all time favorite franchises). It reminds me too much of blackmail and I refuse to play by an unfair set of rules. So no. I won't be buying it. However I am still fervently hoping that this issue can and will be resolved in a manner that is favorable for all of us - currently excluded customers...or else I'll need to go through a long mourning phase. Ugh...I really want this game. Please Bioware! Someone swoop in and save the day.

Uh... how is this contradicting what I wrote? In regard to Bizantura's earlier comment I wanted to point out that Gamestop has several stores outside the US, that was all. But I can see where you are coming from. Well, if the disk really were multi-language (as was discussed above), you should be able to access your prefered language... somehow.

It was not my intention to contradict you. I just wanted to show a concrete example of the situation that Bizantura described. There are many countries in Europe and part of EU that can get frequently overlooked. The situation is far from ideal. And realistically even those European countries that have those stores, don't have them in as large a number as US has - also they are not the most popular or primary source of game distributors in Europe. Being from one of the small countries that almost 70% (I'm being really optimistic here) of the world population doesn't know about, it just hits closer to home...hence my reply.

 

The localized thing is not so much about ingame language settings - which I'm sure can be changed. I do speak other languages, that could come in play if needed to (funny how one of those that I don't, are the languages of these two neighboring countries...I'll need to rectify that sometime in near future ). My "beef" lies in all the other thingys that come with the CE - maps, guides etc. which based on my own personal conclusions...are probably in languages of big countries that DAI supports (German for Germany, Italian for Italy, and so on and so forth). It's a minor complication, but I can be a little nit picky when it comes to this things. 

 

Also I'm sorry if I came off as a bit confrontational - I was a bit peeved, but not with you, more with the whole no-PC physical copies for Europeans thing.

So, if I've been reading the last few pages correctly, after a month of us lot in the EU waiting around with the hundred quid/whatever burning a hole in our pockets... we're now being told that we're all SoL to get anything other than the DE, if we buy from Amazon or on Origin?

I've just ordered the physical PC deluxe edition from amazon. com (I'm a UK resident)!

 

Done this too. With taxes and expedited delivery its roughly the same price as the digital version and will arrive roughly the same time as the UK release date. The game itself is the same (same game, same bonus content but no physical extras). 

 

If the situation changes then can cancel easily. 

 

But come on Bioware/EA/Gamestop I want the PC collectors edition!

You can cancel the pre-order from Origin at anytime, in Origin just go to Help and then Order History.

There are some cool items in the IE, but I think it still lacks that single piece that would take center stage and stand out.

I don´t want to compare the franchises or comment on the quality of the game itself: But this is a good example of a center stage item for a CE.

At this point I'm not really sure which is worse, the fact that BioWare and EA seem to have happily decided to simply ignore PC gamers in Europe and UK in regards to both the Collector's and Deluxe Editions or that no-one at BioWare can even be bothered to reply here with some sort of updated information!

Actually those "replies" were posted by other forum members who were simply providing copies of replies from Mark Darrah on Twitter! No-one from BioWare has replied directly to his thread in almost a month! But you're absolutely correct that it doesn't help us much!

It is good that the RPG gamer milieu is covered and satisfied. As a regular John Doe I still think it misses something to be a desirable collectors item.

It's ok i guess. I'm just not impressed with the statue. I never really liked CEs  that came with a statue as the main reason for the CE. I would rather get more for the money with more items. I think the inquisitor edition does this quite well. Especially since the items are quite unique.

Seems the latest trend for any CE is to include a statue of some sort, personally I prefer artbooks, behind the scenes/making of DVD's, soundtracks and such like. My main reason for purchasing any CE though is that it's for a game that I like so I consider all the extra's that come with the CE as a real bonus regardless!
