I'm also mostly interested in an Artbook, which comes for Inquisition in form of tarot cards, sort of. And of cource I want the map!

Does anyone know, if they're still trying to fix this or have they given up?

Last we heard was that they're still working on this, even though they don't really expect to resolve it before they have run out of CE stocks.

There are some rumours of an alternative 'limited edition' release for those countries where none was available (including those that don't have Gamestop), but nothing of that kind has been confirmed so far, so I wouldn't count on that too much.

No, I would consider it to be packaging.

Fair enough, but at least that means the stuff inside has a storage place. I'm not a fan of CE extras that need display space like statues. That said, I'm not hugely impressed by the number of small items in the DAI CE either (I'd rather have an art book, myself) but at least that box means the items have a decorative home that can sit in a shelf.

Sadly we're not getting much of a direct response from BioWare within this thread, just a few copy/pastes by others of various "replies" from Twitter. Don't know about anyone else but I feel it's a bit off when BioWare staff can take time to post to Twitter but they seem to be ignoring their own forums! :(

If the retailers are at fault for this then BioWare/EA really should be making it very clear that if the retailers don't resolve this mess properly and start selling stock in Europe and UK then those retailers will never, ever, be allowed to have any sort of distribution agreement for any EA game ever again!

Problem is that we still don't really know who's at fault for this mess, BioWare seem to be indicating that it's the retailers, but how can different retailers with no connection to each other all have the same problem with the retail PC versions of the Collector's and Deluxe Editions?

I totally agree, but as far as i know, the fact that there is no physical Deluxe Editio, is intended. At least they always pointed to the Digital Deluxe Edition, when someone asked about the Deluxe Edition outside NA.

If that's true then it's a scary thought because it means that EA are deliberately operating some sort of sales scheme whereby PC gamers outside of North America are being judged as unworthy of being allowed to purchase physical copies of these special editions! :o

At worst this sort of thing could be deemed as "racist", at best it could be deemed as "elitist" or "favouritsm"! Whatever the reasons, EA and BioWare really needs to start working on resolving this by ensuring that physical copies of both the Deluxe and Collector's Editions for PC are made available for sale thoughout Europe, UK and the rest of the world ASAP!

Yeah, I believe this is accurate.

@Ulathar there is no physical deluxe version in Europe. GameStop decided not to carry the Inquisitors Edition.

Mark Darrah's wording in this tweet suggests that the physical deluxe edition in Europe was never offered to the retailers, so that was apparently a business decision by EA themselves, and that the Inquisitor's Edition *was* offered to Gamestop, but they didn't want it (and as EA gave Gamestop the exclusive rights to the IE, that means people just won't get it)

Oh wow, so that's pretty much what we've been waiting for. You heard it folks, no Inquisitor Edition because Gamestop refuse to sell it. They can go **** themselves then.

Exactly this.

Even though I highly doubt that it's intentional - at least from Bioware's side - this kind of business practice does feel offensive and alienating, and it's also kinda counterproductive for a company like EA, that prides (promotes) itself for being inclusive.

I really wish they resolve this "hiccup" before October. :(

That's really disappointing for EU fans.  I would think that's a rather large market to deny a product, too, so it seems a very odd decision.

I have little to no understanding about regional compatibility or what have you, but would it be an option to have a friend in the US purchase you a copy & ship it over?

First I thought they did it to push Origin. But then again they do sell physical Deluxe Edition copies in NA, so my guess is that it's mainly a problem of stock/distribution/deal with Gamestop/whathaveyou.

I don't mind buying digitally but downloading a whole game can still be bothersome for many people with a slow Internet connection.

Of cource that would help, except that everyone in those countries would need such a friend, that we would have to wait up to three weeks after release and that we would have to pay lots of shipment and taxes.

Besides... I think by now the IE for PC is sold out in the US as well. So this would only be an option for the PC Deluxe Edition

It´s nothing new, really.

But if gamestop is made a scapegoat for not carrying/selling these particular versions outside of the US, than why the exclusive deal with them?

Ever heard of something that is named after those ferocious female warriors? I heard they even use carrier-gryphons these days, BW.

I've emailed GameStop UK once again, this time asking about this apparent news that GameStop aren't selling the Collector's Edition anywhere outside of North America, especially since the first time I contacted GameStop UK their reply was that "The Collector's Edition for PC will be available on www.gamestop.co.uk" and they were simply waiting on a pre-order release date! I also included the link to Mark Darrah's Twitter replies regarding this situation so that, hopefully, someone at GameStop UK will be able to find out what's going on. When (or if) I get a reply I'll post it here for the benefit of everyone.

Something about this entire situation stinks badly, and it's starting to seem that EA may well be the source!

I've emailed the German Gamestop and asked if there is any way to get the PC version to Europe, even if it is something like an import of the US version through a local Gamestop. I'll let you know if something comes of this or if they provide a different way for us to get it.

I would not mind to pay even more (shipping costs, import duty, VAT), if that would mean that I could get my hands on a IE... But so far it is simply impossible to get one over here. Heck, I'm still trying to get a CE of origin (or at least the goodies that came with it).

I hate EA gave it to gamestop only, they are a horrible retailer and I refuse to do business with them so no IE for me. Would rather Amazon.com got it

I asked Gamestop Germany, either. They just answered me and said, that for now it was decided not to sell the PC version, that could change, but they can't promise that…….

I really can't believe this! And I hope that Bioware never ever again makes anything exclusive to Gamestop.

The Worlds Leading Video Game Distributor

I have a large group of friends, most of whom play a lot of computer games. Not one of them has ever bought anything from Gamestop. Amazon, Game, Play, HMV the list goes on, but not one of them ever bought anything from Gamestop. So why choose them as your world wide partner when their business seems to be solely concentrated on North America? Money most likely, they paid the most for the exclusivity to hell with the customer base. Buy a console version for the goodies and then by a PC game and then pay extra for the DLC content. More money for EA from those silly Europeans who'll pay anything.

As much as I want to play this game, I'm really thinking of not buying it now, fed up of being treated as an after thought by a terrible company.

Received a reply from GameStop UK and it's not good news at all:

Thank you for contacting GameStop.

No problem at all, that's what we're here for.
I have just spoken to a manager, and unfortunately it now looks like we will not be getting the Dragon Age Inquisition Collector's Edition for PC. I am sorry that I was not able to give you the correct information previously, it has just been changed by the looks of things.

We do have the standard edition available though.
Please let me know if you have any further questions.

Sadly this doesn't help to explain why GameStop have chosen not to provide the PC Collector's Edition for sale outside of USA and, if this is purely down to GameStop I can't help but wonder why EA haven't taken any steps to rectify their obvious error in selecting GameStop as the so-called exclusive distributor!

No matter who's responsible for this mess now it's going to be GameStop AND EA that PC gamers around the world will blame for this horrendous and unforgivable attitude towards all PC gamers outside of USA!

Not really sure what will happen now, but I intend to reply to GameStop UK and let them know that I will NOT be placing any order with them ever! Maybe if more people do the same GameStop might just get the message that they've made a huge mistake in chosing to ignore PC gamers around the world!

I've received a similar answer from the German Gamestop support a few minutes ago. Though they said they probably won't get the CE, not that it was definitely the case. I have little hope that we'll be able to get it here now, though. I'll try the local Gamestop directly today, maybe they'll have a different answer or way to get it. I doubt it, but I'll try and if they find a way, I'll post it here.

Done this too. With taxes and expedited delivery its roughly the same price as the digital version and will arrive roughly the same time as the UK release date. The game itself is the same (same game, same bonus content but no physical extras).

If the situation changes then can cancel easily.

But come on Bioware/EA/Gamestop I want the PC collectors edition!

Yep, going through the postings here earlier I was wondering whether I was going to regret my decision... The answer is no.

Bloody sad, really.
