I just have a quick question, anyone know if I buy the Inquisitor's Edition will it come with a code on origin that I just activate?  Cause my laptop doesn't have a CD player.

In that case it's easier to just buy the digital version on Origin.

You can always get a physical copy of the game later. If you really want it. And...well... if you're from America (Europeans are currently not that lucky).

Of cource it does. Just redeem the product key in your client and you can download it.

This debacle has been going on for over a month now and yet there's been virtually NO communucation in these forums from BioWare staff about what's going on regarding the European release (or rather non-release) of the physical Deluxe and Collector's Editions. Forum users have had to ask about this on Twitter to get answers from BioWare staff, why aren't they posting updates about this on their own forums?

Uhm, in case you have forgotten: This is the same company that when talking about "fans" and their "community" means only those who live in Canada and the US and talks about artistic integrity when releasing a story with an ending directly copied from another game.

We should also keep in mind, that the Xbox has been the lead platform for BioWare for quite some time now. Mass Effect came out one year later for PC and the graphical fidelity has since been dictated by the hardware of the Xbox (okay, Mass Effect itself got better textures, but the "High-Res"-patch for DA2 was a bloody joke). Just remember the blurry mess that ME3 was - even worse than the almost six years old predecessor.

So honestly I'm not surprised there has been almost no communication. It's great to see guys like Gaider and some others give these interesting insights into their jobs, but regarding PR BioWare has never done a good job of communicating with their fanbase...

What? What game are you talking about and which game does it copy?

I recall the BioWare of old, pre-EA owned. I know that in the old and now defunct NWN forums various BioWare staff would post regularly. They used to be a company that did care about their fans and the gaming community, but those days are indeed, long gone! :(

Sadly BioWare isn't really a company anymore now that they are fully owned by EA and, as such, they're just a division of EA responsible for game development.

Doesn't matter, I don't want to start another flame war. My point is clear, even if you don't know which game exactly I meant...

@Grizzly: As I wrote above, some of them are still communicating with us. A more prominent example is Mr. Gaider, or that concept artist whose name I constantly forget (I'm terrible with names, must be my working environment, where everyone wears a patch with their name on their chests).

As I have been a Forumite since the original Bioware NWN boards (ie; lurker on first, and active poster on remaining forums), it isn't difficult to understand why many of the Dev staff do not post as much now. The level of prejudicial and contemptible posts have risen greatly, and I would avoid it were I in development.

Am so ready for The Keep, as Oct seems so far distant.

The medium has changed as well, for it seems a lot of the developers will respond to direct comments on Twitter, but at the same time if I had to live through the "you lied" because of what they were saying because of Mass Effect 3 I would be a lot more cautious posting too.

Being called liars seems to pale to the threats that were made by a few. Sometimes when I view this world even from here, a warm blanket and cold pillow seems like the better retreat. IMO.

I wish they'd stop with the digital goodies. They don't add to the game just take away from everyone else. Look at the Witcher 3s CE, already preordered it.

Ironically, that is the reason I upgraded to the Deluxe version of DAI; have little use for baubles, but the digital shiny's may enhance gameplay.

But... but the digital shinies would be in the game just as much if no one ordered anything with digital goodies, that's the problem.

You wouldn't have to pay extra if no one else did.

Personally I decided to abstain from anything with digital goodies at an added cost unless it has a really awesome Artbook.

Or they might not ever exist at all, for they might have been made specifically for the Deluxe version of the game.

That would still entail staff being allocated for it instead of other work, available to every edition.

That isn't always the case, if they are given a certain amount of money to work on a specific area if that money runs out a person could be laid off or re-assigned to a different project, then if extra money was awarded for new content that person can stay longer to finish the extra content before they move on.

Not expecting loads of posts from BioWare staff, but so far there's been next to nothing posted here from anyone at BioWare, which is why many feel that both BioWare and EA are simply ignoring European PC gamers over this mess!

Not being able to purchase the physical Deluxe Edition because of a decision by EA is one thing, but to then add to that by giving the Collector's Edition release to a retailer who clearly had no intention to sell the product world-wide is just making the whole thing worse! So, along with not being worthy of being able to purchase either of these products we're also not even worthy of being given an apology! :(

While I'll never condone anyone making prejudicial, contemptible or threatening posts towards any game developer, I simply ask game developers to step up and take ownership when things go wrong and provide some communication, especially in their own forums!

Here's a semi radical idea - has anyone thought about a campaign of logging a call regarding the unavailability of the Deluxe edition in their location?

Pah, too late for that now. I was hoping someone like Jesse Cox or Totalbiscuit would "notice" this and - as part of the PC-Masterrace - say a word or two about that, but as both are sitting in the US it seems like either they don't care or the didn't notice it. If people with that big an audience say something EA & Co usually tend to do something to avoid bad press...

Mark Darrah @BioMarkDarrah 2m

News on PC Inquisitor's Edition in the EU. Unless it is sold out, it should now be available at retail GameStops

Mark Darrah @BioMarkDarrah 1m

Some territories (but not all) will sell it online as well (Denmark, Finland, Sweden, Norway have online it seems)

Both of these messages are roughly 20 minutes old, so it seems to be officially appearing now. However, it is still not currently listed on GameStop UK's site.

In the UK it's probably just available in the stores then and not online. The German store doesn't have it listed online either, so I'm guessing it's the same here. I'll give the local store a call this morning to try and find out if they have it.

The in game items better be up to snuff. DAO pre-order items were a little too good and DA2 ones were terrible. Surely there's a middle ground.

From my research about GameStop UK they no longer have any high street stores in the UK, not that they had many in the first place!

GameStop Abandons UK Stores

Trying to use the GameStop UK Store Locator simply results in a page with an "address not found" message!

GameStop UK are, from what I can see, purely an online only store now.

Yep, zero stores in the UK. Looking like we're gonna be pretty much SOL on this. Really annoying, I was still holding out hope that i'd eventually be able to cancel my Origin order and switch my console Inquisitor order over to PC.

not.cool.EA.Gamestop

I do want to thank Mark Darrah for trying to sort this out though and at least some of you guys in Europe will be able to get it now.

ETA

Just realised that Mark said some territories will have it available online. Hopefully we could still see it in UK in that case.

Mark Darrah replyed on twitter to someone asking about the UK version, and he said "should include UK" then "in store only". Now seeing as UK has no stores anymore, then I don't think we're going to get it.

I now called my local Gamestop in Germany and they still don't have it and have no news.
