who cares? its a game wanna have sex with a chick role a guy char, wanna have sex with a dude role a male, not that hard.

LOL thats quite the typo. and wouldnt it be easier if you could make a guy and have both options? or the other way around

it would be easier but BioWare obviously had a preset mindset to Commander Sheperd and apparently that Commander isnt gay. I mean if I had someone play through my life in anyway they wanted, the only thing I would want be the same would be my sexuality. And plus, if there was gay sex all the republicans in the world would burn ME2 copies by the truck load.

Least they'd have to PAY for those truckloads... so why would BioWare care? ^_^ And dude you opened a can of giant worms with that remark... I'm sure there's a LOT of things more important than your sexuality you'd not want done to you...

While ultimately it is no big deal -

I'd love to see if they made a game with a forced gay main characted and provided only one M/M and one F/F love interest.

I'd love to see the breeders freak.

Eh?  Hypocritcal much?

Tbh the major irk is I would imagine being dragon age needing me to go and gift someone to hell and back for the relationship to happen. In mass effect 1 however it could happen just by checking up speaking to them which I did to them all because they are fun characters but that doesn't mean I want to go have sex with Wrex, Garrus and kaidan even if I am curious about the Krogan testicle thing, Garrus you bastard!

I mean if they put just one in you would be happy right? the idea of all my squad-mates wanting to plow me because I like their personalities makes my headspin. It needs to sync well imo.

Saying that I'm sure you'd be happy with 1 character each though right?

well actually all i wanted was a samara femshep romance cause i never was able to do a liara femshep romance in the first and i dont have it anymore

Hmm maybe she already has a union partner? Maybe thats why shes a Justicar? I really don't know but if doesn't turn out like that I really can't see a reason why you wouldn't be able to.

In response to the OP; The real reason that there are no same-sex relationships in ME2 is that the dev team is based in Canada, where gay literally translates as "doesn't like hockey." When you see the amount of work that went into establishing that Shepard is more of a Lacrosse fan you'll see that the devs really, really thought they had it covered.

So there's the answer. That, and the fact that Casey Hudson is so deep in the closet that he's having adventures in Narnia. I kid! I jest! It's perfectly normal for a grown male to wear t-shirts two-sizes too small in order to show off man-boobage.

ok edit here....dont make me eat the can of giant worms lol that was an exageration obviously as I wouldnt want to be genocidal.....wait i killed the *cough* Rachni *cough* ok so sheperd also has the capabilities to be genocidal.

If there's no same-sex romance, then gay fans certainly should be outraged and should not be buying this game. Borrow it if you have to, but don't support Bioware's decision with your money.

Straight fans would have the same reaction if, for example, Miranda was not romanceable by male Sheps. It's frustrating when you cannot fully enjoy the game.

So...no problems romancing aliens with a completely different biological makeup, razor sharp teeth, mandibles, three toes and fingers, but the thought of romancing humans of the same-sex would be outrageous?

The irony of this statement boggles my mind.  As Guillermo del Toro put it.  Monsters are indeed the last minority.

Explain.

It means that if you can look at something with a tail or velociraptor teeth and accept it as a sentient being and not care or be resentful of it than little "minor" real world stuff like skin color and sexuality should not be a big deal to you.  I'm just saying that there is irony in your statement as homosexuals are often considered to many people as "inferior" to heterosexuals but now you are implying that homosexuality is superior to another potential type of sexuality.  I know this is fictionalized sexuality, but I still think it is ironic.

First of all I'd have to know exactly what you meant by "breeder."  If you mean what I think you mean than see my above post about the monster/minority quote for clarification.

honestly if commander sheperd only had gay romance I could care less. Since im not worried at all about the romances it wouldnt bother me. I would just be playing a really bad ass gay commander sheperd who refuses to have sex with men, but is secretly gay lol:lol:

Breeder is a slang term for heterosexual persons.

Well then yes, I consider that statement ironic and hypocritical for reasons I already explained.

I would feel that way for the fact that this game is about choices and they only give us one gender choice for each character.

Humans and Asari, you mean? I doubt it, but who knows.

asari cant be gay.

and as to the OP, when your making a compelling story, you have to prioritize. DA:O was a new game and probably used as a testing ground for gay relation ships in video games. meanwhile mass effect 2 was made normally with normal relationships. if you see the return of gay relations in the new DA Xpack, then you will prob see em in ME3

Umm, also keep in mind that DAO had elves, so they had the whole whole "gay elves" trope.

Arik -

I'm not outraged. I'm not sure if you're being sarcastic or not. I play "Lone Shepard" - rugged, bad ass, GAY, loner. You know - like the dude in the Mass Effect novels. He and I secretly date - in my mind.

I do find it disappointing - and I will be careful before I enjoy another game trilogy where the author's excuse is "This is our character".

That's what I really have a problem with. I'm paying you - it's MY character.

At least be a man/woman and admit you didn't feel like adding M/M romances or felt it was wrong or whatever. Don't give me a song and dance.

=====

Ragabul -

I'm sorry if any comment I say hurts anyone's feelings - but honestly, my only response is. "Get over it, you're the ones who get catered to." If I complain about someone using a word I object to - I'd be told to get a thicker skin, when someone on here discusses this topic - people invade it with breeder apathy. You'll have to forgive me if I can't see how catering more to the majority puts me on a moral high ground - and I can't say I even want to be there concerning this topic.

Don't you think there is something very wrong about having 7 romanceable characters in the game, and all of them with strict gender checks.    You have hundreds of different choices in everything but your sexuality?  If that is in fact their decicison (we still don't know for sure), then I would hate to give them even 1 cent of my money.

But it goes both ways. Homosexuals are still considered inferior enough that sentient alien beings are more acceptable even though they have very different physiology. The most popular argument against homosexuals has always been that they couldn't reproduce and thus cannot contribute to society. Yet, the same restrictions are present in a Quarian/Human relationship but people will defend that it's more about the connection between the two. Isn't that the same for same-sex relationships? Why is ME more comfortable with depicting humans being able to fully embrace an alien romance but then it shies away from the idea of a human romancing another human? If you can look past the velociraptor teeth, why can't you look past the sex of the person of YOUR species?
