Arik -

I'm not outraged. I'm not sure if you're being sarcastic or not. I play "Lone Shepard" - rugged, bad ass, GAY, loner. You know - like the dude in the Mass Effect novels. He and I secretly date - in my mind.

I do find it disappointing - and I will be careful before I enjoy another game trilogy where the author's excuse is "This is our character".

That's what I really have a problem with. I'm paying you - it's MY character.

At least be a man/woman and admit you didn't feel like adding M/M romances or felt it was wrong or whatever. Don't give me a song and dance.

=====

Ragabul -

I'm sorry if any comment I say hurts anyone's feelings - but honestly, my only response is. "Get over it, you're the ones who get catered to." If I complain about someone using a word I object to - I'd be told to get a thicker skin, when someone on here discusses this topic - people invade it with breeder apathy. You'll have to forgive me if I can't see how catering more to the majority puts me on a moral high ground - and I can't say I even want to be there concerning this topic.

Hendel is MINE! Find your own sexy biotic soldier!

LOL thats quite the typo. and wouldnt it be easier if you could make a guy and have both options? or the other way around
[/quote]

it would be easier but BioWare obviously had a preset mindset to Commander Sheperd and apparently that Commander isnt gay. I mean if I had someone play through my life in anyway they wanted, the only thing I would want be the same would be my sexuality. And plus, if there was gay sex all the republicans in the world would burn ME2 copies by the truck load.

K, congratulations you just raped and killed every female member of your family in front of their partners, then killed their partners.

Also, who cares what republicans burn. They have to BUY the D*** things to burn them.

This may be the stupidest thing I have ever said but would the homosexual romance knock the age rating up a notch for those who don't have it currently at 18?
I really don't mind if you get a homosexual partner its just not my thing tbh but it just annoys me that Garrus will come on to me and theres no really way to make it not happen unless you have something like:
[/] allow same sex romance
which is even more outrageous than not including it imo.

Like I said no gifting system, more talking makes it all less clear cut on the romance dept.

Asari are monogendered. So technically it wasn't lesbianism. Holy crap, that's a word?!

So HAH!

Yeah... I'm just trying to stay slightly neutral. I usually get slightly less hate/ignorance that way. That's why I didn't say something like that. It makes no sense to me but hey, to each their own.

It's funny because I'm usually really pesimistic but I'm still optimistic that ME2 won't let us down.

Mono means one. Monogender means one gender. Asari are all female. Here's your "HAH!" back, better luck next time.

A few years ago, yes it would. Nowadays it wouldn't but it's still extremely taboo.

With Garrus I could see it being just really good friends unless Shepard took it further, and even then I don't think it would be like sex or anything. I wouldn't want to have sex with Garrus, but I could totally see my Shepard falling in love with him.

The irony of this statement boggles my mind.  As Guillermo del Toro put it.  Monsters are indeed the last minority.

Explain.

It means that if you can look at something with a tail or velociraptor teeth and accept it as a sentient being and not care or be resentful of it than little "minor" real world stuff like skin color and sexuality should not be a big deal to you.  I'm just saying that there is irony in your statement as homosexuals are often considered to many people as "inferior" to heterosexuals but now you are implying that homosexuality is superior to another potential type of sexuality.  I know this is fictionalized sexuality, but I still think it is ironic.

NO Bioware is inferring that Homosexuality is worse than interspecies. What he was saying was that in terms of relationships, having sex with other sentient beings should be treated no differently then homosexuality or heterosexuality. The fact that one is looked down on by BIOWARE is the problem.

I'm so glad ya'll are taking my response so seriously. This is like the fifth to eighth thread I've seen about this topic. To be honest, I could not give a rat's **** about it at this point. Male shepard ain't gonna be gay. Man up and accept it. And despite all the 'femshep is a lezbian cause of liara' crap, twenty bucks says she won't be making out with a female human anytime soon.

Quoting this part for truth. They didn't bring up dragon age or burn it or want to hang bioware for it, so they wouldn't do it for me2 either if gay romance options were in.

The real reason is that Sheppard's history is know to the player and the fact is that he is not gay. You don't always have to have same sex romance to have a great story.

Being looked down at is sort of extreme isn't it? Just because they didn't put it in doesn't mean they have some sort of axe to grind to the homosexuals, it just means they just didn't put it in. As much as it irks you being dramatic and accusing of bigotry isn't helpful.

Thane really could have gone either way. He seems like the kind that wouldn't consider gender a barrier against love.

ME1 doesn't in any way go into detail on Shepard's sexual preference, be it the humans of the opposite gender,  humans of the same gender, or aliens of either gender.

At least, that was the Mass Effect I played.

Yes but all bioware keeps saying is that shep is your character nomatter what sex you are.
If shep is your character you should choose if he/she is gay or not. not Bioware or EA

Shepard's history is not known or is it a fact.  It's up to the player....with the exception of picking their background and military psyche.

Mass Effect is supposed to be the 'players story' where they get so many cool options and etc., etc.

At least that's what those random people kept saying in those Sci. vs. Fy spots.

Maybe the humans are the only ones that have homosexual relationships. o,O

Humans and Asari, you mean? I doubt it, but who knows.

asari cant be gay.

and as to the OP, when your making a compelling story, you have to prioritize. DA:O was a new game and probably used as a testing ground for gay relation ships in video games. meanwhile mass effect 2 was made normally with normal relationships. if you see the return of gay relations in the new DA Xpack, then you will prob see em in ME3

Since Asari are all the same gender, any Asari/Asari coupling would technically be homosexual.

Not really.

They only have one gender so they don't define their sexuality like humans do.
We define it cause we do have same sex people and opposite sex people, IE ****** and hetero.

Gender among asari has little meaning, if they came across a "third" gender, it still wouldn't matter they procreate through some mind DNA exchange.
They are A-sexual, we see them as female like cause of possible "birth canal" and mammary glands, which both would only exist for the purpose of birth and nurturing.

The birth canal might be a hole that a penis can go into on an Asari, but nothing really states that would be the case.
Mind sex seems to be the order of the day when it comes to Asari.
Perhaps MaleShep just PIITB with Liara :o:lol:

FemSheps could be gay in ME1.   Audio files for an M/M romance were on the disk, just not utilized.
The player is supposed to decide who Shepard is.  Isn't that the point of this game.
