Having not read any of this thread, including the OP, here is my thought on the title question;

I'd imagine that had Hawke been part of the ruling couple of Starkhaven, it would have been much easier for Cassandra to find her.

The potential for Hawke ending up as Viscount is directly referenced in the game and s/he vanishes as well.  Right from Kirkwall no less, so it isn't like they went anywhere.

You know, between any King/Queen Couslands, the various folks that have Warden-Commanders (so anyone that played Awakening) and a Viscount Hawke all missing, the Seekers sure have a tough time keeping track of the (possible) rulers that were previously PCs.  :P

Hawke will be princess of nothin'. She and the warden have fallen into a black hole.

Any romance with Sebastian has Forever Alone written all over Hawke's face. Even in the Rivalmance he gave me the impression he wouldn't touch Hawke with a stick.

That's too bad. He's got the looks, the voice and shiny armor. Such a waste.

Sebastian, if only you'd man up.

Just so I understand what I'm reading here...

If I put up with romancing Sebastian, I can be a princess?

Because... might be worth it.

You should all know by now Sebastian is nothing but talk. Just for how long has he been trying to retake Starkhaven? And you expect to be a princess? Get real!

By Inquisition we'll see posters asking for help to kill Anders if you let him live.

...You must be fairly new around here.  Just the idea of Anders living is enough to make some folks resharpen their murder knives.  I even read a poster stated that they that kills Anders every time they play DA2, but is going to set the plot flag for him in the Keep to "alive" if they think BioWare is going to give them the chance to kill Anders again.

Some BSN'ers need help, but that's another story.

Well, my aggressive male mageHawke let Anders live.  Even thought he was justified in his actions, because *somebody* had to do *something* about what Meredith and the Templars were doing to fellow Mages.  /hijack

Anyway, I've played through with ChantrySeb before and I just wanted to throttle him.  Hello, what about all those people in Starkhaven that your family has been ruling justly for generations?  You're just going to leave them hanging with a puppet ruler because you're so brainwashed by the Chantry?  Yeah, you do some good.  Little things that fit in line with who the Chantry wants you to be.  Selfishness and cowardice at its worst.

I'm not a fan of how the player is given the option to influence Sebastian's beliefs and in the end that has absolutely no bearing on events (well, if you don't kill Anders, anyway? I'm not sure if a befriended Sebastian still returns to Starkhaven if you killed Anders)
At this point in time it seems unlikely that Sebastian will appear in Inquisition, or even get an offhand reference. BioWare confirmed that when they pulled the plug on the DA2 expansion and DLC, Hawke's story and her companions' stories were over and would not come up in a game again. And now we know that the Free Marches will not be included in Inquisition... so no visiting Starkhaven. :(
Maybe... maybe I was foolishly reading way more into his subplot than I should have, but I can't shake the feeling that it was left open-ended because BioWare intended to do more with it, and it kills me that I will never find out. Women who friendmanced him at least got some banter about a wedding. I'm never going to hear about the lavish royal wedding between the Prince of Starkhaven and the Viscountess of Kirkwall...

I'm not saying they couldn't have become Viscount and/or Princess. I'm saying that it's unlikely they'll still be actively ruling by the time Inquisition starts.

Wouldn't you? I mean, if you killed him DA2 and yet he lives in Inquisition that means he is an Arcane Horror right?

You're probably right, and I apologize.  Thank you for the PTSD, Catholic Church (how I wish I was kidding)!  However, that does not mean that I do not believe in God and goodness for its own reward.

I applaud Sebastian's writers, though, even if he does trigger me.  :(

Eh, I think compared to mother Petrice Sebastian is very nice

Boring, I gotta agree, and sometimes his speeches make me wanna facepalm. Mostly because they're sooo cheesy. If they wanted to write a positively believing character... they overdid, a bit, just a bit, but still

But maybe I feel so because I myself don't mention my beliefs often in RL. Personal stuff is personal
