You don't have to play vanguard by spamming charge/nova. The game becomes way too easy with vanguard sometimes because it's such a beast.
That's like buying a Ferrari and only driving it backwards in reverse

I gotta agree. Charge/Nova is the point of vanguards.

It gets repetitive and you really need to know when to charge when facing Banshees and such!

Yeah I found that out the hard way. Stupid banshees. But at least I had explosive incendiary ammo, heh.
I'll have the Charge/Nova combo to look forward to when my Vanguard makes it to ME3. I've only played it once so far, with a Sentinel.

First time I played vanguard, I kept thinking, "jeez i didn't know killing bad guys could be this much fun." Hope you like it.

Hahaha! Watch out for those rare Brute Sync Kills! I learned almost everything from Multiplayer...

That's what I thought after I figured out how to use high explosive rounds in combination with Lift to create groups of levitating geth on fire.
Which was also during a Vanguard playthrough.
Aaaaaand I've reached my positive votes quota for the day again. Crap.

Do sync kills even happen in SP? I've never seen it... I had to look up what 'sync kill' meant.

I've never played vanguard in ME1, but Lift is absolutely hilarious. I almost pitied saren-bot vs my adeptshep.... almost.
Yes, they do. Don't let enemies get too close! Phantoms, Banshees, Brutes, Praetorians, and Scions, can sync kill you if they get too close. Brutes don't do it very often.

It could work with other classes too, if you give them shotguns as a bonus power.
Last time I fought the Saren-bot, he jumped right in front of my Shepard, and one of the Sovereign cutscenes played after I shot him. I thought I won the battle in less than a minute with that move because my shotgun was just that good, but no.

In fairness, charge wasn't really the point until ME3 introduced Nova, because without the crowd control powers, you could end up a sitting duck really easily and with the fatigue mechanic, you couldn't flee for cover very easily. I almost never charged throughout most of ME2 until my powers were maxed and cooldown was reduced. Nowadays, I try to get around the repetitiveness of charge/nova spam by only using it primarily as an escape route, though I always use it when brutes charge, because it just looks so badass to do it, especially once you've set them aflame with explosive incendiary ammo. The only time I really spam it now is when I fight the clone on the Normandy so I can chase that sucker down.

Heh, letting enemies get too close has never been a problem before.... except for husks. Damn husks. They're like flies, especially in ME2 when you're not quick enough to take out their kneecaps.

I just watched saren-bot float by while I shot him with a pistol. I couldn't stop laughing.

Ahh okay, I never played a vanguard in ME2. I mostly preferred to stay back and snipe things.
I actually prefer the effect of biotic charge in ME2, because it's amusing to see unshielded/unarmored enemies go flying (especially when they scream), but also because it has the same adrenaline rush-like effect. ME3 has it too, but it's downplayed a bit. I never used a sniper rifle in ME2, but I did like picking off enemies from as far away as I could with the trusty Mattock rather than get up close too often. Of course, with the introduction of heavy melee, I stopped caring as much about ranged attacks unless it was banshees and harvesters.
I did see a vid on youtube of vanguardshep melee killing Blue Suns mercs during grunt's recruit. He wiped out the whole map pretty quickly. It was kinda awesome.
I loved the Viper in ME2, with multiple shots before a reload, and very little recoil.
Lol, ME2 screaming was so exaggerated! Plus, there's this Husk sound that can bug out when obtaining the Reaper IFF. I almost went death!

I loved it, I was always yelling at my monitor, "shut up and die already!'

Yeah, the Audio goes crazy during that part when you have destroy the Mass Effect core.

Plus, just everything about husks in ME2 was annoying.

You have more luck of surviving from a horde if you play Sentinel. Tech Armor will detonate sending them to the floor! ![]()

N7: Abandoned Mine in ME2 is by far the worst mission I can remember, because it's just an onslaught of stupid husks all the way through. I always do it because I'm a quest hound, but there were so many damn husks running at you it was annoying. I wished that I could somehow magically give Shepard nova blast so I could just curb stomp them and get it over with. It was no UNC: Missing Survey Team, that's for sure.

Ugh, I hate that mission. First time I played that I ran around and killed them for 15 or 20 minutes before realizing they just keep respawning. Now I just take Samara and Thane, each with Area Throw. They work well as crowd control.
The flamethrower works well against husks.
Judging from those screenies of yours lately, the flamethrower works well against everything
. I usually pack the arc projector, unless I'm using the Cain for a specific purpose; like the colossus or the thresher maw. One of these days I'm going to remember to bring it on Samara's recruit for that damn gunship.
Pull Field + Unstable Warp folks...
Good way to lay out an entire mob of Husks in ME2. Pull Field alone is awesome CC.
