Platform Differences

Are there any known differences on the platforms? Will the PS4 run in higher resolution/FPS? Will there be any platform exclusives? Timed exclusives? Anything you're allowed to talk about? Again, I'm looking for any known differences, I don't want an endorsement of one over the other.
As soon as I know which platform I want, I'm ready to give you all the money. Help!
PS - Fellow BSNers, please do not turn this into a PC/Xbox/PS war thread. In this thread, no one cares about preferences, only facts. (And definitely not "facts" like ____ is better than ____ because...)

There was one interview I read that said they were looking into Kinect support...if you care about that.

Well, I'd of course argue that the PC version would be the best version, but if you ask for console differences I have to assume you don't have one or otherwise prefer consoles.
I'm not really up to date regarding console specifics, but last time I checked, the PS4 was overall leading in both performance (slightly better than the XBone) and more importantly significantly in customer friendlyness (sharing games, less invasive systems, etc.).
So going out of a hunch I'd rather recommend the PS4 as the lesser of the two evulz.
Take it with a shovel of salt though.

They've said the next-gen versions will have better effects, higher NPC count, and sexier water tech. But that's all. Content-wise it's exactly the same game.
As far as resolution and framerate, nobody knows anything about that yet. But I totally expect the console versions ( both last gen and next gen) to be locked to 30fps.

Performance is going to be slightly better on the PS4 I assume, though not by much. I'll be getting the game for PC but if you're in the market for a console this gen I'd recommend the Xbox One, not due to fanboyism but because any minor graphical difference will be dwarfed compared to the general console/PC graphical difference and the One might have some gameplay peculiarities via Kinect and the like to differentiate itself.

Aha what a perfect thread, well I do own a PS4 and while the XboxOne controller is pretty similiar to the Xbox360 controller which was my favorite of previous generation. The Ps4 controller is in my opining pretty much awesome.
Now what I wonder about how is how the game will be played with a Controller, is it closer to something like Dark Souls, Kingdoms of Amalur, and so on and so forth?
or Will it seem more clunky than having a keyboard and a mouse. Well at least one would assume it would be during tactical view at least.

OK, devs, now that the Inquisitor's has been revealed, I'm almost ready to preorder. I'm down to the wire. I thought I would've decided, but I'm still on the fence. Since I can't import directly from the 360, I'm open to buying this for either the Xbox One or the PS4. I'm not asking you to say one is "better" than another, I'm looking for cold, hard facts.

The X1 version will have kinect support and they are considering smartglass (presumably as a map). If the kinect works anything like it did in ME3 or skyrim, it will be very useful and make combat more fluid since you won't have pause to dig through menus. Just say "Solas-fireball" and boom.

I don't see how it will be any different from the previous games. If you've played DA:O and DA2 with a controller, you've already seen it.

I'm going for a PC for DA:I. A few months ago I built a gaming pc and thanks to Steam Sales, I've been slowly building my PC gaming library.
I played DA:O & DA2 on all three platforms (Xbox 360, PS3 and PC) and my favourite experience has been on the PC.
There are 3 main reasons why the PC version is my favourite.
Controls
As much as I love the Xbox controller (I still use it for a number of PC games) the mouse and keyboard setup was much better for both DA:O & DA2. I found it much easier to pause the game and issue commands to my companions. The use of a bar as a quick menu meant that I could have far more options to quickly choose from.
Graphics
I can run both on their highest setting on my PC so they look soooooo much nicer than on the console version.
Mods
There were some mods for both games that added so much, like the DA:O mod that made your Mabari a summon creature so you could always have him with you or the DA2 mod that fixed the creepy hand issue.
I know the new engine is apparently very difficult to mod but I'm still looking forward to seeing what people manage to make.
So if you can go with the PC version of DA:I then I'd recommend that.
If you need to pick a console version then I'd go with the Xbox One. I don't have either the Xbox One or the PS4 BUT last gen I had terrible issues with bugs and ruined saves when playing cross platform games on the PS3.
I'm still concerned enough that the PS4 will have these issues that I'm leaning towards an Xbox One for my next console purchase.

well personally it would be
A. Buy a new Graphics card and DA:I for PC
B. Buy DA:I for PS4.

Having used all three options and knowing the specs of both consoles I would have to say pc or ps4 for very different reasons. The ps4 has slightly better hardware than the xbone so the game should run much smoother on it. Plus I haven't seen a game yet that doesn't run at 60fps on the ps4 where the xbone very few run at 60fps. This is due to the memory that is used in each console. PC is recommended not because It will look better, but because mods are very prevalent on PC so you will most likely be able to mod it and have a lot of fun with that. I personally will be getting this on both pc(later) and PS4(pre-ordered) .

Higher NPC count? Hope that doesn't mean PS3/360 will get hosed on some quests. Graphics don't really bother me, I can only play on a 22" SDTV...EVERYTHING looks like crap on there.

I have to know. What is sexier water tech?

Water apparently looks more crisp and has better reflections on the Xbox One and PS4 versions.
It was explained in an article a few weeks ago. I don't even know where I read it (I think it was GameSpot). Sorry.

I have at my disposal a PS3, a 360 (wich I have the ME trilogy and I REGRET that) and a PC, that I'll be upgrading soon with a new video card (GTX 750 ti) and a SSD with a brand new windows 8.1 installation. Fortunately for me, I always played the dragon age saga on PC, and I will continue to do so.

Facts: the xbox 360/ps3 version will have downgraded graphics, less non-essential NPCs, and possibly some other downscaling. Would not recommend buying unless you don't have any other choice.
XBOX One/PS4: From what I've been hearing from all the devs(witcher, watch dogs, etc.), the PS4 is the superior system in terms of graphical capabilities. 1080p/60 fps is more likely on the PS4 than Xone(I don't even know if the Xone has a game that runs in 60fps). But the Xbox version will feature Kinect commands.
PC version... well, this is the one I'll be getting, since I have a rig to be able to play it. PC gameplay for Dragon Age has always been solid, most of time better than for consoles. However I dunno if that'll be the case for DAI. The only problem that the PC version could have is optimization. But with a company like Bioware, and a development time of 4 years... I extremely doubt that optimization will become an issue.
All in all, I'd recommend getting the PC version, because if you have the rig, than the PC will most likely be the best version. But if you prefer the consoles no matter what, then your best bet will be the PS4. Although we won't know anything until the game comes out.
What I would also recommend is that you don't pre order and wait till the reviews are in.

There's several. One that stands out immediately is Killer Instinct, where the developers actually made sure they always had a bit of juice left in the machine even as the game hit 60fps, to ensure the framerate would not drop for even the slight of a second. A competitive fighting game needs a constant, perfect 60fps.(I don't even know if the Xone has a game that runs in 60fps).
The problem pretty much isn't hitting 60fps, it's hitting 60fps and 1080p in high graphical fidelity at the same time. The PS4 version of CoD: Ghost runs at 1080p, the X1 versions runs at a lower resolution but a higher framerate, for instance. But yes, so far the PS4 seems like the stronger console overall.

The Hard Truth

That said, unless you have a distinct preference for one controller over the other, I'll bet the experience will be identical on XB1/PS4, (any technically measurable differences will be imperceptible to the human player) and better on the PC only in the ways that the PC is always superior to consoles. ![]()

The PS4 has both of these capabilities now as well with the camera peripheral and the Vita via remote play. The Tombraider rerelease on PS4 featured voice commands that worked well enough. The PS4 also has a touchpad that could have several uses based off of other games (additional ability inputs, quick map navigation, etc.). If Bioware decides not to take adjantage of these features I can only assume that they've got some kind of promotional deal with Microsoft going on.
