What got you into Mass Effect? Since day 1 how did you find yourself in the Mass Effect Universe? Were you driving by an thought it would be nice an got into it? Were you referred by a friend or associate to get into Mass Effect? Or you hopped on the Bandwagon during one of the games most popular seasons or commercials an everywhere you looked people were advertising this game? So Commander Shepard's, how did you become a N7 Spectre?

Mass Effect 2 was recommended to me by a co-worker, so I checked it out. Got hooked somewhere mid-way through the game.
After replaying it about two/three more times, I had to get the first one.

Mass Effect 2 was fairly new but on sale for $20 at the time, I had heard good things about it through the internet and thought I'd give it a try. ME1 was like $10 as well so I bought both knowing that the two were connected and it was one of the best $30 I ever spent.

Picked it up not too long after ME1 came out. Knew it was from Bioware and was expecting it to be more like KOTOR than what we knew it was going to be. The pleasant surprise kept me playing along and I became a long time fan, even if I have to give **** where its due for some things in the game.

Played the ME2 demo. Didn't like it. Played it again and still wasn't any better. The kid at the game store suggested buying it and if I still didn't like it, he would give me a full refund. Ok fine. Whatever. As I was playing through the game, I got to this point where I hugged some character that I never knew. I saved the game and went to the kid at the game store and asked him who the character was. He recommended that it would be easier to play ME1 instead of explaining who the character was. Fine. Whatever.
Since ME1 wasn't on the ps3, I ordered it for the pc. I finished my first playthrough of ME2 just as ME1 arrived at the store. I played ME1 5 times in a row to get all the different dialogue. During these playthroughs, I learned the character I hugged in ME2 was also the most annoying character in ME1. Outside of that, I enjoyed the game. It wasn't till after numerous ME2 playthroughs that I could avoid that character in ME1 until the last possible moment. Doing that made ME1 a lot better.

You see, there was this trailer for ME2. This one, right here.
I thought it looked cool. I did some background research, learnt that they were planning to carry decisions throughout the series, also liked the look of these ME1 trailers... And so I picked up ME1, played the heck out of it, pre-ordered the ME2 Collector's edition... and never looked back.

My boyfriend bought ME1 expecting it to be KOTOR, kind of, and loved it. When he got his xbox 360, he had me play it. We both liked it, so I bought him ME2 when it came out. And we played that, and so on.

My first exposure to ME was seeing my brother play ME2 on his computer; it looked pretty cool, so I thought I'd check out the series, but figured it would be better to play ME1 first (also, I had a pretty crappy PC at the time, and to say it was just barely up to the task of playing ME1 is a bit of an understatement). I was hooked, and rode with the series up until the end. Since the ending fiasco two years ago, my opinion of the series as a whole has gradually become more critical; still, it gave me some great memories and opportunities to converse with some sharp and like-minded folks, so no regrets.

BG2 mmm....so much nostalgiaBio fan since BG2 -- specifically, the CGW demo disc.
(Though I wasn't completely sold on them as devs 'til KoTOR. Still the most hard hitting twist in videogame history imo. And appropriately so....)
Jade Empire is a forgotten gem, and I'll love it if they ever make another entry in the series.

Followed Mass Effect's development with interest until I'd read somewhere that it was going to be xbox exclusive, so I stopped paying attention until I saw it pop up on a steam christmas sale. Bought it, DL'ed it, played the crap out of it. Still playing it too.

I read some reviews for ME1 that said I would be able to create a character and shape their appearance, personality, choices, etc. That sounded awesome, so I bought ME1 a few months before ME2 came out, loved it so much that I played it twice, and then bought ME2 the day it came out. The funny thing is, I had read a few things about ME1 before release and wasn't interested then. My interest in the story came after I started playing the game.

I watched a couple trailers for ME1, and was kinda intrigued how the dialogue wheel choices showed the gist of shep was going to say, but the actual spoken dialogue expanded on it.

I hadn't seen any of the trailers before playing, and I guess I didn't pay too close attention to the articles or I would have found descriptions of the dialogue wheel. Maybe I just skimmed through it and saw all the things that didn't interest me first.

Asked my ex gf's (then my gf) brother which game I should buy. He said Mass Effect, so I did.

I buy most Bioware games. I read about ME1 before the TV commercials started and knew it was something I had to have.
A space RPG where I could be a woman? That's right up my alley.
My PC at the time didn't have the chops and I purchased an Xbox360 to play the game. I was hooked during the create your character background scenarios. And the intro scene (camera following femshep as she walks through the Normandy crew to the bridge) was perfect.
it was love at first sight.

Borrowed the second game from the boss of sister's boyfriend, played it couple of times, was awed by how the game reacts to the choices of the player and loved the feel of the universe, bought the trilogy for PS3. The rest, as they say, is history.

I was aware of it, and remember seeing the ads in magazines and whatnot, but I never looked into it any further.
Mass Effect went on sale on Xbox sometime in late 2012, and I downloaded it for like $12 or something. After playing through it twice, I went and bought the trilogy. I'm just around 10 playthroughs of all three games.
