Claymore is the worst option than Talon on hurrdurr on a caster. Actually,
Claymore isn't the best anything of anything from a min max perspective:
1. Best "caster" weapon? That goes to arc/talon. Wraith fills that role better as well.
2. Best weapon for weapon specialist (accuracy/RoF boosts). Nope, brophoon, hurrtalon, and among the "coallegues": pirranha, raider and wraith are all a better choices.
3. Best weapon for weapon platforms (no Acc/RoF boosts)? Nope, lazor and carrier are, as well as arc pistol.
4. Best mook killer? Arc and Talon disagree, as well as wraith. Hell, even the "mid-tier" Sabre and Valk disagree here.
5. Best boss killer? Lazor and Brophoon say WAT? Hurricane smiles. Pirranha and Raider just laugh.
6. Best hit-scan "phantom killer"? Arc and Talon disagree, Wraith disagree as well. And sabre. And crusader. And lazor.
7. Best "put on anything" gun? Harrier says "never"
What's so good about claymore? Its sound, the feeling of powerfull gun it gives, its one-shot "all or nothing" nature, its brutality. I can't say for all the "Claymore cult", but those are the reasons I use the gun.
And, while often suboptimal, it's totally possible to use that gun on a CD dependent class with a sacrifices. I've made an example,
There is something into that. You use the heavy gun on a kit that is CD dependent because f*ck you that's why. Claymore is brutal.
Also, I use that gun on the "casters" (if I ever play those kits) for the sake of "good ol' times", when Claymore was indeed a best caster choice from the min/max perspective (no lolcolyte, Arc wasn't overbuffed, Talon wasn't overbuffed and I-III lvl at best, Hurrdurr wasn't overbuffed and was even more rare than Talon, Wraith was ok, but again - few had it at a decent level)
