Very good point. If BW would go ahead and deconstruct people's superficial notions about the Qun further by going into it in such detail, I'd be all for it.
Do they need to reintroduce Tallis for that? While I personally did not mind her, unlike most people here, getting hold of Felicia Day may not be quite readily possible. And presenting a different Ben-Hassrath agent whose character takes qualms people expressed about Tallis into account may even be to the better.
At any rate, the less the Qun is shown as one-sided "evul fantasy-Stalinism" as some would have it, the better.
It's not evil fantasy Stalinism. It's collectivist. Enforced through totalitarianism. If anything, it might appeal more to pure communists (at best). Not Stalin per se.
That still doesn't make cool in my book though. I'm libertarian (not "Libertarian party" btw). There's nothing that will change the mind of someone already set on libertarianism, except maybe outside/real world reasons. No amount of clever game writing will do it. I can barely even stand feeling connected to smaller units, like families. Fat chance it'll extend to entire societal planning. That's ****** insane. I'd probably end up one of those poor bastards shoved off to menial work in the mines in the Qun society. To each my uppity "individualistic" ass a lesson. That's all I have to hope for in a scenario like that.
Tallis is different. She's a lame example of a Qunari. Kind of reminds me of this Mormon who came to my house to preach and I got him to admit some doubt in his ideas.
I also don't understand the big need for "meaning" and purpose. Get a ****** hobby. Learn the piano, read, go outside, stop thinking so much about your place in the world and just do things. Take it as it comes. To me, that's life. Life isn't predefined, purpose isn't clear.
edit: Sorry for the rant
