I'm not saying it was perfect, but it's a bit different to saying she jumped. If it turns out the Qunari aren't capable of creating such explosives, fair enough. But we don't know anything about their technological capabilities.

Is there technological ability to prevents tearing you apart when you throw grenade under your legs? If qunari had such technology they would have win long time with thedas .Of course it could be magic but point stands still that no matter thechnology or magic if you create explosion that throw you 10 m up well wouldn't be good for you.

Aveline doesn't even look into reports that her own guards are rapists, why would we expect her to look into this?

That was just such a huge WTF for me when I heard that. I was pretty much with the Arishok on that one.

Edit: The more I think about it now, the worse it gets. Downtrodden victims sexually abused by their oppressors? A group steals away into the night to kill them, because that's the only justice they'll ever get? That's what the protagonists pretty much do in DA in these situations

There is such a thing as directional explosives. And while I wouldn't stand over one, I don't live in a fantasy world, so I can't tell you what is possible for the Qunari.

Exactly which is why regardless of personality my Hawke just goes "I'd done the same." and Aveline knows damn well she'd helped.

What makes it more bizarre is that you get rivalry points with her if you arrest the looney bin elf killer in the Magistrate's Order's quest. So depending on the playthrough she basically does exactly this anyway. Pot calling the kettle black indeed.

They are long before our current technology that is sure and as i said no matter technology or magic such thing would injure you very badly and that is best scenario.

Ugh, seconded and I otherwise really like Aveline.  I do know that one of my last sessions before Inquisition comes out, I'm going to do one full crisis Rivalry with her.  That part in which sets off the endgame for Act 2 really bothered me.

Aveline: "I will look into it, but that gives you no right to harbor criminals."

Me: Hate to break to you, Captain Oblivious, but it's obvious you didn't look into this.  It takes a lot more than a day or two of silence to invoke this sort of reaction.

Me: It's also as plain as the nose on my face that by you calling them criminals and murderers, you already consider them guilty without context or consideration.  Nice.  <_<

Me: "I would have done the same thing in their shoes."

Aveline: "Hawke, that's not helping!"

Me: And yet you had no problem with me taking down my mother's killer.  I'm not a Templar, and it isn't my job to hunt rogue mages.  So that shouldn't get a pass.

Me: It's okay for me to avenge my mother, but not them for taking down one of your own, that you're so sodding proud of, for violating their kin?  Get bent.

Getting back to Tallis, my impression my first time I played the DLC:

Tallis: "The Qun isn't all warriors.  It's farmers, craftsmen, people you wouldn't expect."

Me (mage Hawke): That's all well and good, but how about the way you treat mages?  Can't I say something?

Tallis: "The Qun have a vision of the way life should be."

Me: That vision would involve me having my lips and possibly eyes sown shut, as well as in chains.  You do realize that according to your beliefs, you could be slain for spending so much time talking to a mage.

Me: Anything about demons being able to ride my very words?  Damn it game,  let me say something

Tallis: "A lot of innocent people will die."

Me: So, that's just sodding great.  As a mage, I'm not allowed to question this.      Let me try this as a Templar.  Perhaps I'll get a chance to at least agree with her.

<returns some hours later, aggressive fully anti-mage pro-Templar, Templar spec>

Me: Okay, still nothing.  This seems like a big honking deal that the player can't comment on.  It just makes Tallis look like she's on the right no matter what.  I'm now very happy that I enjoyed the rest of the DLC, because this really stupid.  <_<

Yeah that scene is just ridiculous. Hawke not being able to call her on that is a sad oversight. Especially rival Hawke.

Well we have some moments that we can't point out something to others not ony in da 2 dao also have such moments for example when leliana gets hypocritical about matter with playing with someone feelings.

I find it pretty weird that it wasn't considered that someone would take that position at all. I have to wonder if it was a time/budget issue.

LoL they aren't super-technologically developed aliens they still don't have guns and use rather backward ships as i said it is clear they are far from our technology level they have better technology than thedas but in fact thedas limps when it comes to that. As far their greatest achievement is powder something that humans knew in our world rather early.

The "innocent people" line really bothers me, because the Qun (even if we ignore the IRL horrific abuse of mages) has a lot of conduct and behaviour that we would consider to be egregious human rights violations, if not actual crimes against humanity.

I think the Qunari as a culture add a lot of richness to the setting and so I like that in that sense, but holy christmas, batman, they're at best a morally grey empire with a terrible human rights record, i.e., a more interesting version of Orlais where everyone gets to be an elf for a while.

That's my only guess.  I could be wrong, but I think MotA was the last DLC before EA started to push the DA Team to work on Inquisition.  It would explain a few things, but it still is like a glaring spot on a DLC I thought was otherwise pretty polished.  It could have been a case of the dreaded word budget striking again.

Our technology =/= their technology. They are able to have weapons harness the power of the elements yet not harm the wielder.

It certainly does feel that way. It's a shame. It just seems to me that if they just wanted to keep Tallis alive, they could have had her get away after Hawke snatches the list from her. They didn't have to make it seem like Hawke was an utter failure.

Qunari technology isn't nothing more than our early technology gunpowder and more advanced ships than have rest of thedas...

No, it is LIKE our technology. It is not our technology. Big difference. If it was our technology, then DA happens on Earth.

Oh what's even funnier is Fenris and/or Ander's silence on the subject of mages in the Qun when Tallis is waxing poetic about their "vision of the way life should be."  More than any of the companions, those two never shut up about mages and templars.  The fact that the DA Team (whether it be due to time or budget) didn't even have a one-liner thrown in for them regarding mages in the Qun is just odd.  The game beats the theme of mage versus templars into our heads to the point where (me at least) felt like our brains were turning into mush.  Yet, a very vital point of the DLC where you'd figure at least a one-liner would come from them, there is only silence.

Unintentional bonus humor points comes from when I tend to do the DLC.  I like being called Champion, and I tend to do it just after Anders' material gathering quest.  This is a point where Anders (friend or rival) is at his breaking point, his most crazed, has almost Hit the Point of No Return, and still...nothing?

In the end, that's what soured me on Tallis and why I wouldn't like to see her again.  The player nor even the companions was allowed to question/agree about mages in the Qun.  In a game where the dynamic between Mage and Templar is the overall central theme (next to family, friendship, identity and overcoming loss); and after the events of Shepherding Wolves, the whole thing falls apart.

I don't think the writers or devs were trying to show favoritism towards Felicia Day.  It does leave me with a very bad taste in my mouth that Tallis was looking pretty squeaky clean at the end, when she really shouldn't have.   I also think Tallis serves an important role in the story.  We've needed to see the side of the Qun that wasn't just the warriors and armies we'd seen up until that point.  I can respect that and as far as the story Tallis was the vehicle for, it was excellent.  In the end though, I felt like the way they handled the character herself ended up serving to make Hawke look like the fool that got used.  Yet again.  I hope if we meet someone from the Qun like Tallis, a player can have the choice to question them on those things.

LoL did we had gunpowder? yes

Did we had ships? yes

Here ends qunari advancement.

That it doesn't happen on earth doesn't mean that both world are a completely different humans are still humans like on the earth despite they aren't same for weapons...

Did we have that exact kind of gunpowder? No

Did we have those exact ships? No

Thus it is like our technology.

If it is our technology, that means it is Earth technology. So unless you're saying that humans arrived on whatever planet Thedas is then lost all memory and advancement, then it is not Earth technology and thus is only like our technology.

Don't forget sar-qaamek, the poison gas that only affects non-Qunari.  I'd love to see where that fits into any part of Earth.  A gas that affects only one race and not the other.

Yeah TKS, sounds Realistic™ to me.    You guys can now return to your previously scheduled debate.  I'm backing out of this one.

Psst...what does this have to do with Tallis herself?  It seems to be turning into a debate about Qun technology...
