Broodmothers aren't darkspawn, they're ghouls. And yeah, they're the most terrifying. I'm indifferent to regular darkspawn and the children, broodmothers are on another level. It's more about the thought of what they used to be and the process that led them to become what they are and less a out their appearance.

non of the Darskpwan seemed terrifying enough in DA:O they looked like something that came out of lord of the rings and in da:2 they looked like ninja's

the broodmothers just give me the eww factor.

 

but I would say Hurlocks have an okish look

None of the regular darkspawn are scary. I actually found the hurlocks and genlocks in DA:O to be adorable with their smiles, and the shrieks of DA:O reminded me of the Hunchback from that one children's movie I can't remember the name of.

DA2 darkspawn were 'meh', they'd probably look better with less ridiculous armor and better textures.

 

Now, the Mother from DA:A was freaking creepy. Especially when her mouth opened up or whatever. I wasn't expecting it. I had thought 'Oh lol she's not that creepy, why did everyone say she was scary? The blood around her eyes is weird but not that big of a deal.'

Then the skin around her mouth tore off and I almost fell out of my chair.

 

So yeah she's the scariest, though she's not on the list.

Anyway's maybe not scary but I did hate the Shriek.

I liked all the old styles, but the genlocks could have looked a bit more like hurlocks rather than goblins. Shrieks, old ogres and especially the old hurlocks incl. the emissaries were awesome.

Nothing creepy . .Creepy is something that give you A feeling of uncertainty and insecurity. For exemple .. Creepy would be the Queen Nashandra sitting on her throne in Dark Souls 2. Creepy would be a clown doll looking at you when you sleep. Creepy would be a clown laugh coming from under your bed ( That super creepy) .. Anything with clown is creepy lol. Creepy would be a weird person looking at you with a creepy smirk during a bus/metro ride. Creepy would be a random guy/girl telling you about his fantaisies of you.

 

Creepy would be a creepy big spider crawling on you skins when you sleep and getting inside your mouth. A monster charging you ain't creepy. It's just a monster charging you.

Although I'd take any darkspawn over spiders...even The Mother, there is nothing that freaks me out like DA spiders, why the hell do they have jump on you and eat your face?!  Just thinking about it makes me feel faint.... I've taken to staying back with a ranged weapon whenever they're about...and the sound of the face eating! Arghhhh!

Only broodmothers. Or the process of making darkspawn, None of the others are even remotely scary, except for the children.

Hurlocks ala Origins are a stock model favorite.  A darkspawn companion like the messenger would be very interesting.

Scariest are the children.

None really, but there Was that one emissary from a random battle in DA:O that hit you with the life draining, heal blocking hex that was a pain if you happened to get that fight early on.

None of them. After having killed hundreds of them, they arn`t really scary.

Well the only darkspawn i feared and gave me nightmares, Were any darkspawn mages. This is before the first patch on the PC, And man let me say you would shake from thinking about them casting the spells where you can't heal and swarm. Pretty much if they did that combo you where just about wiped.

Obviously what we need are spider darkspawn to allow them to become a true horror.

Since when do broodmothers have breasts on their heads? They don't have to put a full pictures of the creature you know.

None. The closest ones that did that were the shrieks, and even then only because of their invisibility.

I've never had any darkspawn nightmares, but the scariest by far is the broodmother. Just listening to that rhyme about it in the Deep Roads, even before I saw the thing, made me wonder what kind of creepy game I was playing. 

 

The first two darkspawn in the OP have "silly" looking faces to me, so I guess the hurlock looks the most intimidating out of that group.
