Keeping Ashley is a lot better than Kaiden. Yeah, they're both sort of generic, but at least Ashley's character has some fire and dynamism as opposed to bland Kaiden.
For all Ashley supporters

I think calling Tali "she's like a sister to me" calls off all xenophobia accusations from her part.
And encouraging Shepard to talk to Liara after Benezia's death "She just lost her mom. That has to hurt"
And volunteering to work with the STG team on Virmire, even after Kaidan said he'd go.
And calling the Terra Firma party a bunch of racists to Charles Saracino's face

Citation needed.
her ire seems to be summed up in her own quote "I don't think we should turn down allies. I just don't think we should count on them staying allies"
How's that different from Lord Palmerston's saying: " We have no eternal allies, and we have no perpetual enemies. Our interests are eternal and perpetual, and those interests it is our duty to follow"
No citation is needed. That's interpretive at best. As I said, you're keeping it at a political level. I discarded that. Look at it personally. It looks to me that Ashley doesn't like aliens, and it seems to be a pretty irrational dislike.

I love these a lot, but like Peter said shots fired. There is no way this thread is gonna turn out good.
I'm here, and the Ashley fans who know me knows what that means...

I wish people started someday to distinguish between racism/xenophobia and wanting to protect what you are, and the people and the world you care about.
Even Hitler had a Jew he protected and cared about.
I can distinguish that perfectly. It's why I support Cerberus and humanity.
Ashley doesn't fall into that category. As a person who can distinguish racism/speciesism/xenophobia from the desire to protect your personal investments in the world, I will tell you that Ashley that doesn't fall into the latter.

She also dislikes politicians, corporate types, etc. In short, she's supicious of people who may have agendas that don't have her people's best interests at heart. And aliens, who do not answer to the Alliance, do not necessarilly have humanity's best interests at heart.
She's a cynic. She pretty much admits it. She distrusts organzations, but if fully capable of warming up to individuals.

When I see Ashley calling for the death of all aliens, I'll agree with you.

I'd call her a paranoid nut for it all as well. Her cynicism is irrational, and her behavior is rather obnoxious and confrontational.

her cynicism proves to be 100% correct.
And she was never obnoxious or confrontational to me. But then, I didn't treat ehr like dirt, so there's that...

It may be correct, but it still annoys me.
At least with optimism if things fail and the other races turns their back to you, you can blame them, and you can be sure you acted the right way all along.
Karma is something not to mess around with it. We Spanish know that well.

Aw man I love Kimberly Brooks even named a character in the story I'm writing after her. I lost my s*** when I first heard Daisy Fitzroy in "Infinite"

It being correct doesn't mean that she was correct. She happened to be correct about an outcome, not necessarily on the context of it.
Even when I don't treat her like crap (which is actually a good way to gauge how a person feels), she's still obnoxious and confrontational.

Yeah well "The cruel and unfortunate truth is" that Ashley was right. Nothing she or Shepard could have done would have changed it.

Not every Godwin is a fallacy. You must prove how it is one when calling it out. The comparison is to state how even Hitler had a Jew immune to his standard opinions. An extreme example? Perhaps. But it's in sync with Ashley and her fondness for some of the alien squadmates.

no, she was correct about the context too.
"bear and dog" fit the situation with Earth and the Council to a T.
And we must have very different rulers in gauging obnoxiousness.

No, she wasn't. I'm seeing it as stemming from her latent, irrational distrust (and dislike) towards aliens. It fits the outcome. It does not fit the actual sentiment.
