I have not, nor do I plan to, read the Masked Empire. I know that Orlais is in a civil war that boils down to Celine vs Gaspard. Truth is I could care less about Orlais or it's ills. If it were up to me I'd cut Orlesian real-estate up and divvy it with the Fereldans, Elves, Marchers, and Nevarrans. The crux of my conflict of interest is that Morrigan is my favorite character of the setting and she appears aligned with Celene. Irregardless of protagonist I do not wish to antagonize her. What is the likely hood of being able to burn down Orlais while maintaining amicable relations with Morrgian in Inquisition?
Will aiding Morrigan be synonymous with aiding Celine?

I wouldn't be even a little surprised if Morrigan isn't just using Celene and her purposes are not really Celene's. Remember in Witch Hunt that Ariane says Morrigan buddied up to her clan in order to make off with their book about the Eluvians? I imagine it's something like that.

Morrigan is way too smart to just be an advisor. I don't even think that she recognizes Celene's authority. The ways of man tend to be a bit neglected when you are raised far away from them by the most cunning talking walking thing in the world (Flemmeth).

I'm pretty sure you aren't burning down Orlais, regardless of your interaction with Morrigan.

Morrigan always does what is in Morrigan's best interests. If Celene benefits from it is only because their interests align.
It really depends on what Morrigan's goals are in DA:I. So far that is a bit of a mystery.

Only for the magical sex and blood rituals. I mean, this is a Morrigan plot we're talking about.

I highly doubt it. Morrigan always has her own goals. She will only be aligned with Celene because it furthers her interests/benefits her in some way.
nb this is not a hate post morrigan is the queen of my heart ![]()

Seems right. My guess? Helping Celene might help Morrigan. Helping Morrigan don't neceserely help Celene.

Morrigan is more like Frank Underwood from House of Cards. Only there to further her own goal, so if helping Celene helps her then so be it but if not, Morrigan is sure to remove you from the picture.

I doubt such mundane matters as the fate of an empire concern Morrigan too much

They concern Morrigan in regards to her getting authority and position in Orlais from it. I am not saying she and Celene are best friends, but it would be a mutually beneficial partnership for both. I also don't imagine it would be very beneficial for Morrigan for Gaspard to win, considering she is now associated with Celene.

There is a theory that Morrigan is the big bad responsible for the fade tears.
If so, she most certainly wouldn't be working in Celene's interests.

I sort of doubt Morrigan would remove the Inquisitor who can close the tares, Until all of them are closed cause I seriously don't think she is the Mastermind behind them. So she would want them gone as well. Now after... I don't think she will outright murder you, she will have you debunked in some way or another, maybe make you insane, to remove your leardership role.

i can see morrigan wanting the rifts to stay open so she can get some type of power.

Morrigan only cares about Morrigan period she is not above using and decieving others to get what she wants "OGB" she will feign loyalty to Celene as long as that benefits her goals but will abandon her as soon as no longer requires her.
I think Morrigan will be busy using both Celene and the Inquisitor/Inquisition to further her goals and I think she will find the Inquisitor very interesting due to his/her abilities so she will likly keep a watchful eye on them.

Helping Celine probably does help Morrigan more than it harms her. In the end, Morrigan has her own goals and I am sure they are both using each other. Who has the advantage, who knows.
Having Celine on her side benefits her greatly. She has the protection of an Empress and as well the freedom to get whatever tomes, etc that she wants.

Morrigan is too smart to take sides. She's only is using her to her own gains.
