Another issue is that they've never done a big box for Dragon Age. I've been a huge, huge fan since the beginning. I kinda feel like this is a big eff you to fans.
I can't be the only person who feels this way. I'm sure others in the community would love the opportunity to preorder this in store as well.
I want to give you guys 200 bucks.. Please let me.

Bad Gamestops do that. The employees pre-order and then re-list on Ebay for epic profits.

Isn't that illegally creating an artificial shortage?

I'm begging that nobody in my city wants this game...
I called the day before and they told me that preorders were available the next day. I went in the AM when the store opened and they were sold out. All three stores in my area had the same story.
I wish you luck, but don't hold your breath.

As a Gamestop employee I can say that yes, most of them do that (i don't, i always just preorder for myself and friends)
Isn't that illegally creating an artificial shortage?
Not really, employees are allowed to purchase games just like everyone else and just like everyone else, what you do with it afterwords is your own business.. but yeah it's still wrong.

Not the deluxe, the Collector's edition... and currently yes, it does seem to be limited since we were only allowed to sell a few preorders, at least at the store i work at.
Although I'm not so sure it's going to stay like this, it looks to me like they're testing the water to see just how many people are actually willing to buy it since it really is an expensive purchase... $169.99 is quite a bit of coin.
I'm sure if they see that a lot more people are willing to buy then they'll make plans to produce more of them(just speculation on my part)... I had to be the bearer of bad news for a lot of unhappy DA fans today.

They are allowed to purchase the games the games for themselves allright, but if they purchase a game just to sell it at profit later, they are de facto creating an artificial product shortage to achieve a higher market value for when they are selling it later. That is illegal for all I know (may or may not be applicable to various economical laws depending on where you live).
Of course it's next to impossible to tell which of the employee purchases are legit buys for themselves or for their friends and which ones are just to make a profit via selling them later, at least at this point, though I would argue that any copy found being sold second hand for a higher price than it was acquired for should warrant jurisdictional steps to cull such unfair behaviour. It's blatant profiteering and market manipulation at the expense of the standard customer.

Well, some would call it investing... Technically it is illegal but you can't tell a person not to buy something and then convict them of a crime they haven't done yet.

Anyone remember this douche from Origins? He's the first person that stood out of my mind when this comment was put out there.

Is your profiteering ruffling some feathers?
But in a very real sense that is stealing from the business if said business would've been able to sell it for the higher price.

I am praying that the dude who was in my local Gamestop was being sincere when he told me that they haven't gotten in yet and to call when they open over the next few days 'cause he's opening and would be able to tell me.
He did also warn me about I think it was Titanfall (maybe?) having their CE selling out in 6 hours.
Please, Gamestop Dude, be a stand-up guy. Please, tiny-ass hometown, work in my favor for once.

Honestly, even if the employees were not reselling the game, I still think it's unfair that they can preorder before anyone even comes in the store, thereby selling out of the three copies they're being sent. If Bioware is testing the waters and seeing how big a demand is for this, why not say, Okay we will sell preorders from this date to that date and then count up the orders and make that many. That way everyone has a fair warning/chance to get their orders in.

So, I want the Inquisitors edition for Xbox One. I went in to preorder and everything was sold out..then I was told that each store is only getting three copies, total, of this edition. I get that's it's supposed to be rare but three copies!? That's pretty much preordered by employees before the store is even open. Please send more to stores. And no, I can't order online, I rely on the stores for this kind of thing.
Another issue is that they've never done a big box for Dragon Age. I've been a huge, huge fan since the beginning. I kinda feel like this is a big eff you to fans.

The same **** happened with Mass Effect 3. They only revealed Prothy and his exclusivity after all collector's editions were sold. Why on earth they don't want to make more money by making more of them, people can only guess at.
