I went to Gamestop this weekend (I live in Florida) on two separate days and was advised that the CE wasn't in the system yet - they never indicated it was sold out, though. Reading this thread makes me a bit nervous, but I'm hesitant to pre-order online as I don't know how fast shipping works...
Preorders sold out in stores already!?

I'd suggest online regardless of shipping if you want it.

I live in Florida as well, and had the same situation. The GameSpot in my town claimed that they didn't have it in their systems. I drove to the GameSpot one town away and they had it and I preordered it from there.
If you don't want to drive around to different stores, it's probably better to order it online.

When trying to order the Deluxe edition online the 'pick up in store' option didn't show up until the uber edition came out. My guess is their online warehouse it a bit behind.

Update: So I just came back from lunch break wherein I conveniently dined in a restaurant right next to Gamestop. Popped in & inquired once again and was this time told that the Collector's Edition was online only. Ordered it with 1-day shipping (the most expensive option) and the receipt indicates I won't be getting it until October 8th or 9th. UGH. ![]()

Bad Gamestops do that. The employees pre-order and then re-list on Ebay for epic profits.
Gamestop: Power to the Employees.

Did they say it's 3 copies per system per store? If so, that's 15 CEs so limited physical space might actually be what's impacting the number sent to each store. Consider that Gamestops often have TINY back rooms (seriously, ours was pretty much a bathroom) and October is when holiday stock starts arriving at stores. When Skyrim came out, the CE was HUGE and it took us months to sell through them even though each one had been reserved through preorders (not to mention if preorders don't pick up and they can't eventually sell them, it's a pretty big loss). Stores often receive their product quite early so they can't afford to have tons of product gumming up their back room when all the huge holiday games hit.
It sucks for customers but managing physical product in a tiny store is very difficult.

I always buy the CE but the 4 Gamestops in my area all sold out 5 mins after they opened and I was the only customer in the store for the first one I was in and was told all the Deluxe editions were sold out as well.
Like seriously!!
Sigh!! stuck with the regular edition.
All sold out the morning after the CE was announced.

You might be able to get one of ebay if you wait a few days after it comes out.

The issue is probably a matter of logistics. The inquisitor editions is expensive, physically large and bulky, delicate, and not available for payments. That limits the amount of goods they would be willing to order to begin with, and I am sure gamestop/bioware/ea wasn't sure how many copies would actually sell.
The gamestop I ordered from is having it shipped to me straight from the warehouse. So it is probably best if you order it online if you can, rather than from the store itself. It should also be noted you CANNOT make payments on it, if you preorder you pay the full amount right there, at least at the store I went too.

We have one Gamestop in my city and they told me all their copies were taken. The guy I talked to is a fan of the games and said he was happy to be working there cause he signed up for a copy right before they opened the store that day. He then told me to check their website but it says it's sold out in the whole country. I'll just settle for the Deluxe Edition instead. It should not be this frustrating wanting to spend $250 on on company.
Besides, our baby is due two days after Inqusition is released so I'm sure I can spend the money on something more practical. ![]()
