It got announced Wednesday, but they didn't start taking orders for it until Friday (I called on Thursday to put an order down for it and got told they weren't accepting depoists for it until things got sorted out) and it's now Saturday. so... yeah.

Hmm I managed to pre order it on Wednesday, but I did it online. Weird that they would refuse it!

These kinds of collector's editions, you should always preorder the instant they are announced, even if you aren't sure you really want them. You can always cancel later if you change your mind but at least you'd have it preordered if you do end up wanting it. I've learned this after Collector Editions fiascos like for Ninokuni.

Like Pretorian I preordered it online as soon as it went up. I've missed out on popular special editions before, and since I knew I couldn't get into the store until today which would have been too late I took the online option. I picked store pick-up so I don't pay delivery and I get it as soon as it comes out.

It's not in Australia specifically, but Dragon Age Delux Edition does exist for PC. Sadly, they're just being douchebags towards Australia and whatever other countries are being treated this way.
So, you can get it via import, not just origin.
Good pick up. I didn't even think of looking at Amazon as I didn't think they'd ship to Australia. I'll wait and see what the outcome is of the Bioware investigation though. I mean, I'd buy the IE with the standard edition of the game if there was some way of upgrading it to the DE if that's a solution. Though they seem to be sold out of the IE so that may be a case of too little, too late anyway.

This happened before, I swear. I think with Origins? Then it got sorted out in a couple months. I'm going to assume it will happen again. Our country might be run by idiots atm but we seem to import collector's editions just fine.
EDIT: EB Games exclusive? Are you joking? That should be illegal.

I had no issue with buying the Collectors Edition of DA:Origins... but I had my pre-order down for about a year before it came out.

there was no Collectors Edition for DA2, there was a Signature Edition which was the standard edition plus the Day 1 DLC

Can we not nitpick? It was their version of a CE because reasons. Again, I'm almost positive I got my, "signature edition" from JB.

*makes dying whale noises because it sold out BEFORE SHE COULD EVEN PREORDER IT*
They're all out of stock, including the console versions.. I was waiting for that Bioware guy to get back to us before deciding to go PC or Xbox. ![]()

I Mentioned this in another thread, im an ex eb employee and I can guarentee that there will be more stock closer to release, retailers and resellers like dungeon crawl over order on the online system and closer to release most of these orders are cancelled by a human representative. I still have no idea why EB havent implemented a 1 per person preorder limit... or any limit, this happened with eso recently.

It turns out our local EB had been allocated more stock (three of each platform), so I managed to get one after all. If anyone else missed out you might have some luck calling the stores near you in case they get more.
It also seems there's someone on ebay who has 10+ copies on each platform for $400 so it's clear where all the online stock went. ![]()

That's really mean, people shouldn't do that. Sorry for those who missed out because of all this - I'm sure they'll make more available, they often do.

BioWare and BioWare games. (A lot.)
But, just raising an idea that I have no idea if has been considered or not; a "fair regional price package" for an Origin purchase, or some such. The Witcher 2 did it with GOG and, anecdotally, it seemed to engender lots of goodwill. http://www.kotaku.co...e-in-australia/
It's not CE related. My budget totally doesn't stretch to $209 this time.
(I think I'll be buying whichever version is around AU$90.) But, it's an idea. (And one I recognise would likely cost you guys money. Maybe there is a fairer mid-point or something.)
(PS. I just read what Yukki wrote. I'd probably smile at an exclusive Australian in game slouch hat as some recompense for regional pricing issues.
)
(Oh. And, also, getting the game 2 days after North America seems pointlessly pointless.)

...And I know people will say "but that is what it says on the retailer's website". Websites are updated with whatever information they are sent. It is not always accurate. Again, it might be accurate, but until it is confirmed, chill out and wait to hear the (hopefully) good news or the (possibly) bad news.
Well hopefully we can get an update soon so people can get their preorders sorted out.

That's why they limit it to strickly one per customer in the US. Not that it stops people buying it and reselling it double the price. :/
Since we are paying 50 bucks extra, it would be awesome to get an AU/EU/NZ /ECT themed item or armour dlc.
You clearly don't understand how mark up, higher taxes and currency exchange works, huh?

Our regional prices are artificially inflated. It's a long, deliberately obfuscated tale. The article I linked above goes some ways to explaining it. Sort of.

What GoG did was great. I think digital and physical retailers should be in direct competition to try and combat high prices, I buy digital almost all the time and to have to pay the same price for items i don't get nor want ( disc, book and hard cover ) is a big problem and makes no sense to me, shame our retailers here in Australia have got'n used to ripping consumers off and get mad when someone tries to do the right thing.

I think the next step is that big publishers need to start standing up for Aussie and NZ players by doing similar to what GOG did. (And, possibly, other regions, too, that I'm unaware are affected.)
That fair price package cost them money, but there would be other ways to work it out. EA could provide us a discount on Origin downloads, based on a list of their choosing. Whatever. Lots of ways to consider doing it.
Also, it would ultimately be in their best interest. I don't have a lot of spare cash these days, but I'd absolutely buy 30% more AAA games if they were priced properly.
(I think The Sims 4 is going to be off my list this year, for example. Especially if I want Dragon Age, and given the quality/price of medium budget games is so great these days, like Transistor and such.)

I do, but in this case it is not the case. Especially with EB games; who are known for their ridicules mark-ups and ripping people of in trades.

This article is three years old now and I'm not sure of its continuing relevance (but, doesn't seem like much has changed to me).
Seems to explain the situation well, IMO.
