So, I contacted EB games again hoping to get an answer to why Deluxe edition for PC isn't being sold as a standalone and the response? "Unfortunately this is the publisher's decision so I am unable to comment on the exact reasons why, however they have not made it possible for the Deluxe edition to be purchased as a standalone in Australia on the PC. They have advised it will be available digitally but sadly not physically in store."

So basically, Origin exclusive? That was the answer I expected, though I had hoped for something different.

I'm not sure who to really trust in this issue. I think I'm leaning towards EA for the trust here, EB has screwed me out of money before. EA hasn't.

I'm on mobile broadband so my monthly internet quota is very limited otherwise I would go for the digital edition. I guess if the download size isn't too ridiculous it might be an option.

These days, although I'm not sure about EA games, make sure you ASK whether the game is actually on the disk. Especially if you're paying more than the Origin price.

I'd assume DA would still be on disk but wouldn't be at all surprised if you got a disk with a link to a download. But, I'm very sure you'll have to install through Origin regardless. (OK, maybe not "very sure" but "pretty sure.")

(Edit: I can't really see why people would want a physical digital deluxe on disk anyway, at $10 more. I think this is really interesting; the way price and distribution are structured this time. Edit again: Assuming the actual download didn't cost $10+.)

Has EA said anything about why it isn't available?

Yeah, I think someone confirmed a while ago that digital deluxe edition for PC would be Origin only. It's why my original preorder was on origin.

No and that says something about my opinion of EB Games. They forced me to buy a game twice because they sold me a game with the American region coding and I had bought DLC for it and when I found out I used my rewards card to confirm that I purchased it and they said it wasn't there so I had to trade it in and buy a new one.

I don't like downloading my games. I want to be able to hold the game in my hands and still be able to get the digital content.

I just got this email from EB games confirming that the Inquisitors Edition for PC now includes the deluxe edition:

First of all, thanks for preorder the EB Exclusive Dragon Age Inquisition: Inquisitor's Edition!

Ever since this awesome edition was announced, we have received a LOT of feedback about the PC edition not including the Deluxe Edition as the next-generation versions do.

Thanks to the massive interest in this awesome edition and the community's vocal support, we have great news! Your Inquisitor's Edition now DOES include the Deluxe Edition content at no extra cost!

So yey us!

There have been problems with Origin never releasing some people's pre-orders. It happened to me once, and all I can get from customer support in the 5+ times I've contacted them is "restart Origin" and "close all non-windows processes in task manager then re-open Origin". Neither of which worked, of course. So a year after release I still don't have the game I paid for.

That is why I prefer to order physical copies instead of through Origin.

Its interesting how the story and information being given out has changed over time...
1.Originaly it was the Distributer had chosen not to produce the Deluxe Edition for PC in Australia ... Distributor is not EA or EB Games (they are a middle company that manufactures the Physical Disk in a region).

2. Then it was that the Publisher (EA) had chosen not to publish a Physical Deluxe Edition for PC
3. Then it was EB has not asked for a Physical Deluxe Edition for PC
4. Then Inquisitor Edition is announced - and it has Standard Edition

5. Bioware states that ALL Inquisitor Editions will have Deluxe Edition in them
6. EB games announces that PC Inquisitor edition will still have Standard Edition - Publisher decided not to do Deluxe Edition in Australia (except through Origin download).

7. Something happened and no one is talking about it (probably EA yelling at Distributor about Inquisitor Edition) yet Physical Deluxe not coming to Australia

8. EB quietly updates website to have Inquisitor Edition for PC having Deluxe edition not Standard in red writing

9. EB sends out emails saying they have secured the Deluxe Edition for the Inquisitors Edition  (but not for Standard Physical).

10. we all YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

11. I type this and wish we could just go back to the days when there was no exclusive deals

Now, I suppose it'd be too much to ask for a physical ed of the Deluxe without having to get the Inquisitor ed :P

While I less qualm about downloading games now, as we recently moved to the NBN, but prior to that downloading a game was really out of the question. I have other priorities that needed the internet during that time and also well after as that would be a major drain on the quota for the month. Ah well, I guess some things can't be helped.

I do certainly think consumer choice is good, and if you want to pay more through a retailer for it, go for it. (PS. Or have to due to Internet issues. My location is lucky in that regard.)

(Just make sure the game is on the disk. :P I don't think I've had this problem with EA games, though, so fingers crossed.)

Oh, yeah, I thought everyone had gotten this news already.

Yeah, Inquisitor's Edition comes with Digital Deluxe content at no extra cost for PC. EBGamesAus on twitter actually personally contacted me to tell me the good news that they had gotten more Inquisitor's Editions and that it came with digital deluxe content.
