I know we're going to have several important npcs that choose our keeps themes, and lots of nameless soldier ones (well if we're army orientated) but I'm hoping we'll have certain quests that result in npcs joining our keep working there. I liked how in da2, orlana would come live at your house after her quest if you hired her, I'd love if you could end up saving/hiring/doing quests for merchents or smiths or hunters and they then come to your keep to peddle their wares and add their skills to your army.
Collecting NPCS for our keeps

I hope so too, that'd make me very happy. Kinda like the Suikoden series where you populate your base by recruiting people
Never played that but I played Skies of Arcadia and one of my favorite parts was recruiting crew members who would live on your home base and you could give them funding to set up shops or restraunts, and depending on which ones you hired to do what they would have different looks to them.

I played both Suikoden "Entire Franchise minus the Japan only entries" and Skies of Arcadia and I complete support this my favorite part of Suikoden was searching for recruitable Npcs and doing their tasks to get them to join it was fun.
This could be really good for DAI go and find Wade & Herren do a quest/task after rescuing them then Wade would grant you access to Dragonbone/Drakeskin Armor stuff like that.

Yes. When the dwarf who got kicked out of her house in DAO offered me her son as a knight I was inexplicably happy. I mean, I knew it wouldn't actually happen in the game or anything, but I liked to pretend that he showed up at the Warden's later and became her stalwart sidekick. I'd love to help people out and have them pledge me their service in return.

I wonder if those would get a redesign due to the new engine lol

Yeah. Add personality to our keeps and the Skyhold.

I would both love and hate it.
Love because it gives us more attachment to them. Hate because if something bad happens to them, we're more attached.
Yeah I'd imagine they'd be there when your keeps are attacked, and you can save them in the process of saving the keep....or fail to save them.

Whenever this comes up, I think how many times I've had to restart a Fire Emblem level because one of my units died.

Atleast it taught us to be more tactical while we did it lol

dont even get me started, the fire emblem series is one of my all time favorite series, ive managed to play and beat all of them, mostly on roms... always hated when a unit died, though a rare occurrence it was, and always restarted the level to retain them.
probably what im goin to do in inquisition... im gonna do a lot of the rescue both type quests instead of one or the other so i dont miss out on content

I think it's going to be the case.I remember reading in a recent interview , it was an example , you could find a stable master in Redcliffe and ask him/her to join the Inquisition and take care of horses.
There's also Dagna who can join the Inquisition as an artificer, I don't know how it's supposed to happen though.

Yeah. Even if there was only one enemy left in like a two hour map I immediately turn it off and reload.
Also, I'm going to definitely try for all the "Save the Keep and Village" options.

In Awakening you could ask a few npcs to go live at your Keep, like that one Qunari merchant. It would be nice to see that sort of thing again.

That it did.
It's even worse when it's one of your best people because you get unlucky ![]()

Yes, I loved that. Same with a few other merchents you could meet.
I don't remmeber if you could actually see them afterwards and then buy stuff form them or if they were just for the quest where you were supposed to recruit them.

On this topic, does anyone know where your party members stay when they aren't traveling with you? If they stay at the keep and the keep is attacked, is it possible to lose your party members?? That doesn't seem likely, but how does it work then?

Maybe you just run into them while saving the keep, and once you defeat all the enemies in the same room, they say "I'll go protect your rear in case there's reinforcements" and then head off.

Like when they only have like a 3% chance of a critical yet and you have like a 90% hit chance yet you miss and they get the critical. ![]()

I think they'll stay at the main base of operations in the region you're in.

IMO, our party members who stayed behind should increase the chances of the Keep being saved. And I would so love to see our stayed behind Companions actually become useful than just sit on their butts

Sure, that makes sense. I just wonder if it can get attacked. I like the idea that if it can, your party being there means it's more likely to survive. ![]()
Sorry I took that a little off topic, but I really do hope we get to 'recruit' more than just our companions.
It really does satisfy my pokemon/suikoden collecting urges.
