Hey, those may come in handy someday. We never know.
Those moldy scarves are the key to saving Thedas from... something!

When Thedas is invaded by moth people, they will spare me due to my generous offerings of old scarves. ![]()

They're remnants left behind by the Doctor.
...The blight was a fixed point in time.

Or at some point someone might come to my house who would like to see my collection of all the rare/unique items you can get in the game
I like how in Suikoden you start out with a beat up keep, but as you gain more followers it started looking better and have more functionality.
Yes, I'm hoping that's kinda how it is in the game. A little dusty, cobwebby, and the more people you get the better it looks. Skyrim kinda did that with Dawnguard if you sided with them, but not as much as they could of.
You can never have too much Blank Vellum! ![]()
What kind of npcs/services would everyone like to have filled out? I wouldn't mind being able to start up a magic shop/enchanting shop if I recruit enough mages, giving me access to more runes to buy and powerful potions to purchase.
Or on the sillier side, maybe the one per game brothel can be set up at my keep and I can recruit npcs for it. "Hey, Mr tal vashoth dude, you could be a mercenary now that you've abandoned your old ways...oooor, you could take this awesome job I have at my keep. You'd have to be willing to work nights though."
A training room/area that actually affects the troops would be nice, or just all the services
It's be cool to be able to recruit a cook and then open a mess hall where you can find your companions having meals and conversations.

And maybe an open stage in the mess and you can recruit some musicians or dancers.
I'd love it if musicians/brothels/chefs improve moral among the troops and made it easier to get them to charge off on any suicide missions. And then training improves their chances of survival, and having good smiths/enchanters improves their armor and weapons. Basically, I'd like to recruit support staff and have that effect things, too.
I played Tactics Ogre: Let us Cling Together, and I loved how you built an army from scratch from a plethora of classes and every once and a while a quest would give you the chance to recruit someone with their own unique history, background, details, and motivation until you had an army of unique characters that meant something to you whom had and continued to have their own interactions with your character.I played both Suikoden "Entire Franchise minus the Japan only entries" and Skies of Arcadia and I complete support this my favorite part of Suikoden was searching for recruitable Npcs and doing their tasks to get them to join it was fun.
This could be really good for DAI go and find Wade & Herren do a quest/task after rescuing them then Wade would grant you access to Dragonbone/Drakeskin Armor stuff like that.
@Todd
Oh yes Tactics Ogre was awesome as well man this thread makes me want Konami to pull there heads out of their A**** and start making Suikoden Games again they are in my top 3 RPG Frnchises of all time I hate that it has been shelved which is garbage. ![]()
My Top 3 RPG Franchises of all time
1.Suikoden
2.Breath of Fire
3.Final Fantasy
And hell yes on Wade and Sandel they are 2 of my favorite characters in Dragon Age Origins they rock bring them back B-Ware. ![]()
Hopefully the Friends of Red Jenny, mage collective, Slim Couldry, etc will make a return and offer us side missions
but we would lose the mystery that is the friends of red jenny... we need bioware to continue the mystery like always by just getting random coins for doing a really obscure job
You're forgetting the most important npc faction we need to court.... the prostitutes. They improve local morale by 238% when an Inn is converted to a brothel, and 364% when that inn is then upgrade with.... welll, I'll your imagination fill that in ![]()

Varric. If you upgrade your brothel with "Ride the dwarf half price fridays" moral will reach peak.
I must look into this Skies of Arcadia if its like Suikoden in the recruitment.
I say go for it. if you have a wii or gamecube, then your lucky because you can try the different version they put out for gamecube ^^ which is a nice touch. they added the Japanese add ons. that were left out in US dreamcast viersion.
i think it would be interesting to be able to designate different troop specializations, maybe some npcs leading troops are better at sneaky things than others and wouldnt be as effective as a tank squad.... course getting this technical might take away quite a bit from the game
maybe something along the lines of the assassin's creed recruits and being able to send them out into the world to do stuff

If I recall correctly, hasn't it been confirmed you can sort of do that? You can send them out to clear out areas for you (and even need to do this in order to explore some parts of the world)
This wouldn't fit with this game I don't think, but its something I've wished in so many TES/FO and other games that have a base of operations. We could send people out on raids and get the loot delivered to us, or we could set up actual ambushes on the roads.
I wonder if we'll be able to train civilians for different tasks? I think it would be cool if we could recruit a bunch of random people and then send them to Leliana or Scribbles or Cullen and have them trained to be spies or salesmen or soldiers to bolster their ranks.

we can send the inquisition out, yes, but for individual cells of the inquisition we do not know
