I've seen many threads about doing the opposite - and even the developers' interviews a bit

But I am actually interested in less popular choice among the DA fans - I want to help the Chantry to thrive and become stronger - at least while playing as one of my Inquisitors (the main one)

So, can I go paragon or do I have to be a renegade?

I'm quite sure you can both support and oppose the Chantry.

Of course, the Maker wills it.

Yes, you initially are acting without chantry approval, so that kind of puts you at odds, but they aren't going to make you be anti chantry anymore then they will make you be pro chantry.

Yes you can support the chantry, while you're initially formed against their will you can most likely make it a little easier on yourself or harder early on, since apparently we have the choice to say that we're a champion sent by the maker which would likely smooth over some of the chantry if you go with that choice. Though on the other hand you if you make it known that you don't support them or say what the hell are you talking about which would most likely make getting their support harder if you want to over the course of the game.

"There's an interesting undertone here of people in the world believing that you have been sent as a leader by the maker of the universe," explained creative director Mike Laidlaw, in an interview with Polygon. "As a player, I have the option of saying, 'Oh yeah, I'm the chosen one' or asking what the hell they are talking about. It's up to the player."

I think it was confirmed that we can ages ago actually. I imagine that they will oppose you initially and then when you get powerful they will want you onside, that's usually how it goes.

I'd be very surprised if we couldn't. I actually wouldn't mind playing a character much the same as Sebastian.

Why does this topic exist? Of course you can support the Chantry.

Well the reverse topics are much more common, and the devs have actually spent much more time reassuring players that they don't have to support the Chantry than reassuring players they can.

The real question is, can I take it over and use it to turn a profit?

I hope we can reform the Chantry.  As much as I disagree with their doctrine and certain actions I think there is a lot of worth while things to it.  And they could really use a reformation.  To get back to its Andrastian roots.

I'm hoping to find out that is a possibility to start a Thedas version of the Lutheran movement. Not literally though, maybe more chill. Like Elthina chill. Or The Dude chill. Which actually fits Elthina fairly well.

The interesting thing about the Chantry religion is that it seems to be pretty mellow. However the Chantry government seems like a bag o dorks.

Look at Elthina. She's really mellow. She is a grand mother and she's like, "Dudes, the word is out there, just chill. They will come or not. Our job is just to say the words, don't kill people in my name please. K and Thanks."

Then on the flip you have the government side; The Empress, Seekers, Templars all of them are tighter than drums. These cats are all up in arms about everything and really it's over one verse of the Chant of Light! One verse! We gotta have a sit down and Reading Rainbow this craziness. Maybe the words have other meanings.

I hope we can blow it too, would be unfair if "blowing chantry" is a special skill available only to Anders lol,if it is then i guess i will have to keep him alive and just imagine that somewhere another chantry gets blown while playing lol.

Just to make Anders Spirit roll over in it's grave (Or I might even use a playthrough where he lives) I am going to RP a Qunari mage that restores the Circle and promotes the Chantry helping to spread the love of the Maker across the world. I may even offer Anders a chance at redemption if he'll just kiss the Divine's hand.

I'm confused. Supporting the Chantry is equivalent to playing "paragon"?

I don't see it that way. I don't see it the opposite way either. Just a path to take and one with purpose regardless of the PC's or players religious views... I mean really it's one verse! One verse! Can't we have a bible study over it? Why is Chanter Bob's interpretation the only one that matters?
