You're going to blow the entire Chantry?

You dirty dog.

It's nice to see mages and their supporters lining up to kneel before the Chantry in supplication. Perhaps after they've finished we can put this entire mess behind us.

Well the reverse topics are much more common, and the devs have actually spent much more time reassuring players that they don't have to support the Chantry than reassuring players they can.

Quite. It would be nice if the devs could reassure us that yes, we will be able to side with the Chantry and the Templars if we so wish.

The mages must be made to understand that the Chantry is not their enemy. In fact, we are willing to get behind them anytime.

Well, they always seem to say that what we think about things like mages, templars, the Chantry and the role of magic is up the player to decide so presumably if that's true it applies to a pro-templar or a pro-chantry playthrough as well. But they do very rarely seem to specifically reassure players using that example.

My first playthrough will be a pro-chantry, pro-templar cheerleader who flies in the face of convention by being a mage. Playing as a pro-templar mage is always fun as it makes you feel like the second coming of Andraste (particularly the moment at the end of DA2 when the Templars all kneel before you as if you're a prophet).

I am optimistic that there'll be pro-chantry options in this game as there have been in previous titles.

You can probably support or oppose the Chantry, to an extent.

I hope so. Most people don't like the Chantry because of their real-world views on religion.

Considering Templar is a specialization and I've played a pro-Chantry character in the past (one of my favorites was a Dwarf Commoner Warden who underwent Templar training thanks to Alistair, had a Chantry opened up in Orzammar to help the needy, and was overall very heroic and sacrificed himself to save Ferelden, incidentally the Hawke who i imported his story from was a female Templar warrior who was diplomatic, more moderate, and married to Sebastian). Would love to have a Chantry supporting PC in Inquisition to support this world-state.

If we can be anti-Chantry, anti-Maker, we should be able to be pro-Chantry (and pro-Creators, pro-Stone, whatever else).

Typical Andrastian traying to force their Maker on Dwarfs. All praise Paragon Varric Tethras.

The whole kidnapping them as children and locking them away from the rest of society is for the subhumans own good, as are the lobotomies and the annulments....

I personally don't really want to take a side and would prefer to get as many on my side as possible, the only place I intend to take a side would be to help the dalish/ city elves.

I hope so. I will definitely be playing a pious moderate or religious zealot some time.

Horrible mistakes my by men, not the Maker. After all the reason the Templar left us to prosecute their war against Mages is because WE were too lenient. We were seeking a way to remove the power of a mage without costing them the ability to dream. The Chantry cared enough to try and find a better way via peace and knowledge. It was the Templars, children we admittedly let stray, that chose war.

Do not fear, My Qunari Mage has faith in the Maker and will do what they can to protect all the Makers wayward children.

Even if some of them require severe.....chastisement.

Let's see, taking away a boy born to a sheepherder who never learned how to read right as a mob was about to lynch him for being a mage and locking him away in the White Spire which just so happens to be Emperor's Drakon's former palace?

Yes, I can see how one could claim it's for their own good.

I'm indifferent to the Chantry just as I'm indifferent to Churches in real life.

My first character will probably be religious but non-caring about the Chantry. He'll probably support it so long as it doesn't interfere with the mission but he won't go out of his way to aid it or anything.

His religious views will probably be more in line with deism though (i.e "The Maker isn't doing anything and probably never will so it falls down to us - and by us, I mean me obviously as I have the fade walking skills - to save this pathetic god-forsaken world").

Better question is:

Will we be able to deliver an ass-whooping of Biblical proportions in October to those who oppose the Chantry ? (i.e towards extremists like Anders as well as apostates and blood mages)

Because I bloody well hope we can. Origins and DA2 forced these characters upon us and we couldn't do anything. Origins allowed us to send Morrigan away but the option to betray her to the Circle was cut. As for Anders, "betraying" him to Cullen didn't lead to anything unfortunately. Inquisition better make up for this. I want my first party to be composed of characters completely pro-templar now where we can execute or imprison any blood mage characters who try and get in with the Inquisition.

Say no to blood magic people.

Templar master race for life.

Yes, I can see how one could claim it's for their own good.

Then subject him to a 'test' designed to break his mind and cause possession, prevent him from having any kind of family life, and turn that tower into a (admittedly nice) prison for life, in which he faces the sword of Damocles every day, his entire circle may get killed, or he may be lobotomised at the whim of religious fanatics.  But if that is fair treatment then every Sister should face the same, forced possession then being made tranquil.

Oh and the reason he is about to be lynched?  The Chantries anti-mage propaganda being forced fed to everyone from birth.

A bit of a fixer-upper now, but once served the Seekers as a premiere training ground. #DAI

Comment and tell us if you would protect the Chantry.

Oh yeah, and the thousand years of oppression by blood mages and constant threat by demons had nothing to do with it.

Hopefully we can be pro chantry while being anti-templar. I mean I have no problem with the chant of light I just don't think it should decide official policy on mages or any other groups of peoples.

Considering the Nevarran Accords were broken, so the Chantry and Templars are separate entities now this is likely.

I think which ever side you choose to support the choice will not be black and white.  I think there will be lots of grays.

And I don't think that choice is as unpopular as you think.  I will support them in the face of another Anders, should there be one.

Yeah, I think we can do without another one of those.

Is it terrible that I hope she doesn't make it through the initial Fade breach and subsequent explosion at the Peace Summit?

Sorry. I didn't hate Anders, but the whole blowing up the temple thing...kept thinking of the poor Reverend Mother, whats-her-name.  She was very kind and that made Anders act worse, if that is possible.

Her name was Elthina.
