Getting to ride an elephant around and stomp people is pretty great too.

Indeed, and the bait system is awesome.

My only compliant so far(12 hours in, at 20% in the South) is the defend outpost missions since they seem to be triggered as I'm trying to leave said outpost.

Oh yeah, it's really annoying when you start running or driving away from an outpost only to immediately have to turn around and head back because it's being attacked. Thankfully, taking out the enemy fortresses prevents any further attacks in the area from happening.

The other thing I find really annoying are the dive-bombing eagles. Damn things just swoop in, claw at you, then fly away.

It's essentially just Far Cry 3 in a new setting, but as great as Far Cry 3 was, that really isn't a bad thing.

In terms of gameplay, or story and style? (Or all of the above?) Is there much difference in the amount of freedom you have to shape your character compared to Jason Brody?

I haven't bought the game yet even though I'll probably give it a try eventually. I'm in the middle of a Mass Effect trilogy run and just started Dragon Age: Inquisition, and I prefer to have only one or two playthroughs of narrative-heavy games going at once. I might end up waiting for the new year, as it seems likely that DA:I is going to take a while.

I really like Pagan Min. His personality, demeanour and his funny dialogue.

"Doorstep, dipshit, doorknob whatever", "you've been a naughty little **** haven't you?"

I wish he had more time on screen. I prefer him over Vaas.

Also he is the first Asian (fellow Eurasian) in a video game who isn't stereotypical. I like this guy.

Can anyone find his theme that plays? Heard in the opening, a scene with Yuma and ending?

Does anyone know if the Himalayas (where you need to wear Oxygen masks) is only accessible through missions or can they be traversed in free roam?

Why cool people like General TSAR and Cthulhu42 are playing Far Cry 4, instead of DA:I or AC: Unity?

Thanks to mediocre gaming of 2014 I'm simply a Strategy gamer right now and I'm waiting for the friends reviews.

Because it has massive bewbs!

On the topic of nudity, it also has frontal male nudity so according to you-know-who logic, Far Cry 4 is more "progressive" than DA:I.

Just out of curiosity, does anyone else think this game way overdoes the random encounters and karma events? I don't mind having these things pop up once in a while, and the attacks on the liberated outposts are a good concept, but sometimes it feels like I can barely go a minute without hearing gunfire or "Help! That eagle is attacking!", and then sometimes I can't even figure out where it's coming from until whoever was making the noise has already been killed. Maybe it's meant to encourage exploration, but I usually pull up the map and decide to head for something in particular, even if it's just an unknown location or a Mohan Ghale journal entry, and all these random events often just mean another five detours on the way to what I'm actually trying to do.

I don't mind an occasional hostage rescue or skirmish with the Royal Army, and the attacks on the liberated outposts are a good concept, but sometimes it feels like I can barely go a minute without hearing gunfire or "Help! Yeah, it looks like they took the enemy encounter system from FC3 and reversed it so that you encounter less random patrolling mooks and more generated encounters, to the point of annoyance.

(SPOILERS)

So I finished the game four times, two times with Kyrat being Afghanistan 2.0 and two times with Kyrat being FARC's wet dream.

I wish the game had an alternate ending where you take Pagan's throne and rally the Royal Army to wipe out the Golden Path.

I haven't finished the game yet, though I've heard a fair amount about the endings and I'm not really looking forward to having to choose between the two Golden Path leaders. The whole situation seems kind of contrived - isn't there anyone in the Golden Path who has a personality and a non-authoritarian plan for the future?

Also, while I had issues with how FC3 handled some of the specifics of Jason Brody's character, I could at least understand what they were getting at in terms of his motivations. I'm less sure about why Ajay seems intent on staying in Kyrat, if he felt any attachment to the place from his childhood or whatever his mother told him later, if he has any actual opinion about the Golden Path's ideology, or how he suddenly becomes super-proficient with all kinds of complex weaponry.
