Qunari are actually are pretty good choice as well. They would preserve elven n culture while adapting it and not allowing elves to breed with other racesDon't forget severely classist, since there are no laws against mistreating the casteless of Orzammar (though I hope Bhelen improves upon it).
But anyway, the distinction between "elf" and "qunari" is kind of weird, because elf is not a religion or philosophy; it's just their species. Ironically, the Qun is pretty much like the Dalish, insofar either conform entirely to that way of life, or you are not welcome. Of course, the die part is clearly the distinguishing factor here.

Then to get it ontopic:
After her exposure to the Wardens, does anyone think Velanna's outlook on the situation has evolved?
I honestly never got to the point where I could unlock her quest, maybe it kept bugging out for me, or maybe I never used her enough, but she always hated humans by the end. (I always got the she disappeared slide, except for the rare occurrence when I took her with the Warden-Commander).
Having said that, any prolonged interaction with a group one dislikes will always mitigate those feelings. It is easy to hate a group/race, it is much harder to hate individuals of that group (baring the racist fools of course). I believe by the time we see Velanna again her violent temper will have been tempered (get it, lol) by her interactions with the Wardens. Even so I doubt she would ever really be involved in any non-warden-centric plot, as the Wardens are quite reluctant to allow its members to flee (although Anders did set a precedent that running away can succeed).

This heavy metagaming requirement to complete as much as possible is what really bugged me about Awakening in general, much like how Sigrun's companion quest cannot be initiated if you did the Law and Order quest first. I basically had to stop and save often so I could prevent having to go back a couple hours of gameplay just to satiate my completionist compulsion. Now that I finally have a proper complete playthrough of DA:A, I will probably never touch it again XD
Apparently, the Burning Bridge encounter where the Crow assassins come at you may have something to do with the glitch that prevents her companion quest from initiating, and it [almost?] always happens when you leave the Wending Wood to head for Vigil's Keep. If you go to the city of Amaranthine straight from the silverite mine in A Righteous Path, and then leave the city to go to Vigil's Keep, it should work (saved again in the silverite mine just in case). I don't recall it being dependent on her approval, but just in case, I dumped most of her gifts on her just to be safe (except for the blank journal, because to maximize approval, you need to speak to her about Dalish stories first).

Yep, depending on your choices... I am guessing. but it would be neat to see how she reacts.. maybe talk in very different tone..who knows.. =p i mean also the fact its been several years..so she could have change into something else
I was just thinking the same thing, lol. But real conversations evolve
and this is the first elf vs elf argument I've seen. It's usually elf vs chantry/humans. An interesting change of pace.
yes..I agree ^^ but one most created a new topic for that, =D hehe Just in case bioware ninjas are not happy and they close this thread. ![]()
Since my Warden befriended Valenna, she became more accepting of humans, and in the epilogue, should you fulfill her Exile quest, she even saves a village single-handed.
yep same here in one of my game plays.. I saw that as a new caring Valenna ^^ hopefully that will be express in DA:I or any future game. Maybe have her defending some humans from dalish. or just showing how she taking a more higher ground side. then she would have . if she was better to the warden or so on.

Yeah, Awakening has several glitches but Velanna's quest was easily the biggest. You had to practically plan your whole game around triggering that scene.

I'm probably going to have to search for an 'unofficial' patch for DAA a month or so before DAI so I can replay it without so many bugs and try to see everything.

I don't think you need to search for a patch. I just requires a bit (a lot) of planning. I basically saved A Righteous Path for last, since it seems to make things simpler. I prefer to recruit Sigrun first anyway, since she's my favorite character from the game.
Edit: I'm wrong. I saved the Blackmarsh one for last, but Righteous Path is right before that. All the planning around getting certain things was kind of a pain, like determining who was going to get runecrafting and herbalism so I can get all of Wade's goodies. Thank goodness I saved those stupid Grandmaster runes from DA:O. One of the most frustrating things was discovering that if you missed the bit with that missing Grey Warden's wedding ring, you can never complete the quest if you fought the Architect's dragon thralls, and you don't get the dragon egg necessary to complete Wade's quests.

I'd like her to come back like that crazed elf in Sister's Petrice's mission.
Just with less crazed and less sickly looking skin. A more healthy lunatic.

Yeah, Justice is the best to save for last, because he's basically the opposite of Oghren by being the easiest to build approval for, and his personal quest begins right at the Keep.

The elf who stole the Qunari poison and got people killing each other in the streets.
She sided with Petrice because she thought the Qunari were wiping out elven culture worse than humans.

Plus he doesn't need to be made Warden which is good since once you recruit asll 3 you can't preform the Joining for the third because the endgame starts when you talk to the Seneschal.

I never realized this. I always went to Blackmarsh last. Dunno why, but Blackmarsh felt like something that I should hold off as long as possible.

Not letting them do the Joining isn't a bad alternative though. Depends how you look at it.
I might not like Oghren, but I don't let him join either. Dude needs to go back home and raise his kid.

In a way she's right, the Qun overwrites all in its path, while the humans are quite a bit more lax. But that's focusing on tomorrow's problem today, while ignoring today's problem. The humans are a much larger threat to elven equality/uniqueness, until the point where the Qunari finally overrun Tevinter and march on the rest of Thedas.

Doesn't Oghren pretty much leave the group if his Joining is refused? If so, does the epilogue reflect this? If not, it's just as likely that he goes off to fight elsewhere and still doesn't go back to his family. After all, Felsi did kick him out at some point, per their dialogue.

Yeah, he leaves. There's no epilogue. Just that Anora offers him into her own army. Which is similar to his DAO conversation at the end.
It could be that Felsi doesn't take him back. Or it could be that he was an idiot who left her first (why does she visit the Keep to track him down, if she kicked him out to begin with?).

I just finished playing DAA for the first time in a long time and I didn't experience any bugs. I even did the L&O quest first and still got Sigrun. Anyhoo, back on topic. While I am somewhat against Velanna being part of DA:I, if she is, I just hope it is well written into DA:I and not just tacked-on. I think that can be done considering...

Kicking someone out of the house isn't necessarily meant to be a permanent thing. Oddly though, one can leave the order should he/she desire during peacetime anyway, which is what mine did.

I would love to see Velanna again.
I always wished that she had Merrill's place as a companion and romance in DA2. Oh how happy I would have been.
