On IGN.com today Bioware revealed what people called their Shepard in ME 3, saying they use Default Jane or John as their names.

Not me, I never call my Shepard Jane or John, on my Shepard I use my 1st Name being my Real name & my Middle Initial. Sort of Homage to Captain James T. Kirk my Shepard's Name is like that using my Real name & my Initial.

I also do this on Dragon Age II calling Hawke my Real Name & my Initial. I don't know If I will be able to do this in Inquisition.

I heard that the Inquisitor based on which race you pick will have their own Name, such as the Drawf is called Cadash or something along those lines.

I hope in ME 4, I can name my MC like I do Shepard or my Hawke makes it feel like it is more my character.

Well it is my character cause I design it, I make it, I craft it, regardless of Inquisition & about the names it will still be my Character cause I will be making it.

But Bioware is somewhat wrong not everyone uses Default Jane & John for Shepard, I say I am not the only one who uses other names or uses their own name such as I do.

Even making a WWE Superstar in CAW Mode I also use my Real Name, same in Skyrim or any game with a CAC System I always use my own Name.

So how about you guys

Own Name, Default Names, or Made Up names, how did you make your Shepard.

Mine is Female Shep using my Name & my Initial. She is an Adept LVL 60 in ME 3.

This is the blog post by BioWare here. The default names of John and Jane were chosen the most. You will also notice that it lists the top 5 non-default names chosen by players for male and female Shepards, and also the top non-default names chosen in selected countries.

As for what I chose personally in the games, I used the default Jonn and Jane for my first male and female characters; for John it was the default John-Soldier-Earthborn-Sole Survivor-Shepard. After that I chose all custom names for my characters. I used my own name only once, and I think that marked the first time I ever chose my own name when naming a custom character.

Also RED, in any Game with a CAC System being KOA, Skyrim, Dogma, I never use DEFAULT name it is my CAC so I will do every aspect for my CAC from the Ground UP.

Being my CAW in a WWE Game I never use weird Names or make something Goofy like a 500 Pounder Super Heavy sporting a Pink Spandex & Wearing a Purple Mohawke.

My CAW is like an Actual WWE deal, I also use my Real Name both 1st & last Name, I want it to look & feel like it would in Reality.

I also Make my own Finishers with Create a Move.

In ME I always done a Tribute to Captain James T. Kirk from Star Trek my Shepard has My Real 1st Name followed by Initial, then Shepard.

With Hawke I would use my 1st name then Hawke then Origins would be the same being my Human Male Noble using my 1st Name then Last name Cousland.

Don't know how things work in Inquisition heard each Race has a name such as a Hawke or a Shepard each Race has their own name.

Hopefully ME 4 will not be a PREMADE MC such as a Max Payne, or other MCs of that nature, instead a MC I can create with a new & improved CAC System with more options than ME 3 had.

If the game goes Prequel then the chances of a CAC MC go down, being prequel would mean PREMADE MC.

Persona Games are the Mindless Mutey while it is my MC I can only name my MC I can not change the MC.

While in AP with Micheal Thorton I can change the Looks to Thorton but not the NAME still my Character, I would be cool with a MC done like that.

Too Far do guess what ME 4 will FEATURE. But I still refuse to call the game ME 4. to me this is not ME 4. That would mean CONTINUATION FROM SHEPARD TRILOGY.

In games where you can name your character I've both used the default and created my own. It really depends on the game and whether or not I like the default.

I never use my own name though. I never see the main character as an avatar for me within that word, so I try to avoid naming the character after myself. I'd rather have the character make choices based upon his or her background, rather than have the character always do what I would do in his or her boots, shoes, or sandals.

Just any name I really like that sounds good in my mind when paired with the given last name. If it's entirely open-ended, I just try to make up any name that feels like a snug fit in the context of the game. I never use aliases I go by irl. So mine would be: Kara Shepard, Lydia Amell, Elaine Hawke, Rei Veleda (KotOR), to name a few.

I like Thurston and Ivan for male names so I lean towards those for male characters

I believe that the names that are pre-set for the different races in DAI are surnames, albeit I may be wrong.

N7 I did research on Inquisition, Each Race of the Inquisitor MC has their own Name such as a Hawke, Shepard or Warden. such as the Drawf is called CADDASH.
