To lock in it is after the citadel mission. Garrus will take you on the car ride.
I just want to know how to avoid getting locked in with Kaiden. Should I rewind and not give him the whiskey?

Do one mission after Citadel Coup....then he'll send you a message....

Basically the secret is to do the Garrus meetup before the Kaidan one. Once Garrus is locked in, no other romances will present themselves

At what time does he send you the email to meet him in the citadel? I've talked to him as much as possible, if I tell Kaiden the for now option when talking to him in hospital does that lesson the chance of locking his romance? I'm trying to keep him alive just to learn reeve. I miss that power so badly. Is it after the Genophage mission? Which dialog do I use to make sure this locks in for his romance?
There's no harm in telling Kaidan either option with regard to the hospital scene - if you tell him "fresh start", then you can still talk him down during the coup. If you tell him "I still want to be with you", the romance isn't locked in yet. It's probably better to choose the negative response to Kaidan at the hospital - you're letting him down relatively gently (after all, you've both been through a lot since you were last together), and he'll still be on your side during the coup.
(Honestly, the only way for the Virmire Survivor to not be on your side during the coup is if you REALLY work at it. I believe that you'll always have charm/intimidate options, provided that you've got sufficient reputation - which you'll get if you're doing everything - and most of the time they'll stand down provided that you just try talking them down, regardless of Charm/Intimidate.)

I made sure for this single Shepard to be here for the exact purpose of not braking his heart. I just couldn't do that to him. It just him having that fear of loosing people because they feared him... The one person that made him feel human dumps him ugh I just cared that much about him.
What is the deal with breaking Kaidan's heart? The dude treats you like trash on Horizon. Treats you like trash on Mars. And then Shepard tells him to kiss off. He should have seen that coming from a mile away. He should have realized he had burned those bridges to a cinder.

That goes for either VS as far as I'm concerned. Especially on Horizon; all the rest of the ME1 squad were happy to see you, or at least the potential is there in the dialogue. I just started ME2 in my renegade run, and I wouldn't say Tali was too happy to see me after freedom's progress, heh.

Have you seen the Tali/Ash cat fight during the Dreadnaught mission? Tali really slams Ash for not helping out Shepard like she did. I was like, "right on, Tali!"

Well, I youtube'd it, I guess it's not really the same. I almost always take Garrus on that mission, except the last couple times I took James and Javik.
I have a feeling tali's not going to make it to ME3 in this current playthrough. We kinda hate eachother a little bit right now.
