Does anyone ever put any points in Electric Hammer? I can't find a reason to

Biotic hammer with two charges, cools down fast enough that that's all you need usually. I know Electric Hammer primes for a 6/6 fire explosion, but i usually use incendiary ammo and the FE is only useful vs. bosses anyways.

I've heard the argument that electric hammer is useful when there are more than 2 or 3 enemies for the aoe damage and stuns, but in reality, aren't you better off running in with biotic hammer and hitting and killing two enemies almost immediately, greatly reducing the damage you're taking by two sources, rather than running in and using two electric hammers, and merely injuring all of the enemies with a weak dot or a debuff that's made obsolete by biotic hammers sheer power? You're still taking all that damage from all those enemies with elec hammer.

I've also heard that since electric hammer is one of only 2 or so powers that can boost tech explosions, it's useful for detonating in team games for all the tech combos getting that boost. But again, i find that boosted tech combos don't matter whatsoever when biotic hammer will kill them outright anyways.

Anyhoo, what do you guys think? Does anyone here use elec hammer? And if so, when, where, why, and on who? And do you use it because it's genuinely better than biotic hammer in that situation?

As far as i can tell, electric hammer is only useful in bronze to clear an entire spawn with one hammer smash, oh joy!

EDIT: i should also say that i've actually tried electric hammer, in every difficulty, i'm not just judging or talking nonsense without actually giving it a chance, i like elec hammer, i just think you're better off using biotic hammer in every instance i've come across. The easiest plat solo i did was the the KroLord with no points in elec slash, completely unneeded for my playstyle

EH is alright. I'd only skip passives for it. Personally, it doesn't fit how I play my KWS.

It's only good vs mook mobs.. Geth in particular. I'd skip passives for the option.. but mine is 6/6/6/6/6

I'm in the same boat. Electric is good, but in any situation where I need a charged-up hammer, Biotic always seems like a better choice. He's strong and tanky enough that I've never really worried about not catching an extra mook or two in a hammer blast, and for enemies big enough to really worry about, I'd want the Biotic anyway. Some people swear by putting points in both, but I can't get it to work for me. I tried the 6/6/6/6/6 build with him once, just out of curiosity, and I still only ended up using Biotic. Some people swear by 6/6/6/0/6, but I think the most popular build is 6/6/0/6/6.

I'm totally gonna spec my warlord for this!
I usually use one hammer or the other, never thought to skip the passives.
What's the highest difficulty you take this character build to?

It mainly depends on what weapon you are carrying and what you are using the actual hammer power for.

E-hammer is better for larger groups of lower tiered mobs, and is decent if you are on a tech team vs Geth (better shield multiplier).

Biotic is better for larger targets, and has a better multiplier to barriers and armor.

IMO you're correct OP. Biotic hammer is just better.

I've seen people use tech hammer to great effect before, but I've never seen someone do better with it than they would have with biotic. Mooks can (and should) usually be one shotted with old-skool heavy melee and rage mode lets you tank entire platoons while you clear them out with heavy melees. Bosses are where the charges really come in handy, and biotic hammer with it's massive single hit damage and anti-armor bonuses is the hands down winner against bosses, no contest.

I prefer the option to lay down some EH on mook mobs while in a tech-heavy team to some piddling amount of Krogan passives, but different strokes and all that jazz.

I do a 4/4 split with EH and passives mainly so I can do the tech challenge. If I don't need to do the challenge I never use the EH, I'd rather just do light melees and the light melee combo.

I use to do this too just in case. However, after a while I found that "just in case" never actually happened. Then I specced passive back into shotgun weight reduction (yes, you heard that right) for maximum cooldown (ie. maximum hammer spam).

I actually max out that hammer, go up to 5 in BH and 3 in passives. Fitness is a no brainer. I use the EH for mobs and the BH for bosses.

The biggest problem about electric/biotic hammer is it's grenade based load up mechanic cause you have to choose which hammer you load before you go in a fight. If you could choose in every situation from 2 normal hammer powers I guess people would spec 3 in Electric for crowd control and 6 in Biotic Hammer for bosses.

As it is, people end up skipping Electric Hammer cause it can't be used situationally.

You can override your charges whenever you want. Run in a group with EH, hit them and prime for FE, than load biotic charges into the hammer and detonate. If one or more electric charges are left on the hammer they simply vanish.

Electric hammer and Black Widow -- that's all what KWS needed.

Right, but you waste grenades for that and it is one button more to press. Most players don't do need, I think I have never seen anyone doing that at all.
