Please correct me if I am wrong, but didn't the chantry kinda 1st originated in Tevinter?

after/ during the 1st blight people there lost faith in the old Gods, killed the magisters nad dreamer mages and adopted the teaching of the chantry. Originally, non-mages were the head of the chantry, but that eventually changed.

They weren't the Chantry then. They were the Cult of Andraste. The Chantry wasn't formed until Emperor Drakon.

When the magister kills a slave, it's because they see them as being more useful to them as fuel for the spell than being alive.

Isabela killed them in a sense of self-preservation, and got in big trouble for it.

So neither example disproves my statement.

But again, let's get this back to being about the Red Templars.

Danarius killed little girl to impress others and i doubt that any owner of the slave would protect their slave during the invasion... in fact even danarius left Fenris. They control them not protect their lifes are nothing to them so i don't see them risking their life to protect them...

And? He gained esteem from killing her. She proved more useful as a sacrifice than a slave. And Danarius hated leaving Fenris on Seheron because he was useful and didn't want his 'little wolf' killed.

If someone came to say kill Fenris, Danarius would kill that person to protect that which he saw as useful.

Now I'll say for a third and final time, drop it. This is offtopic. If you continue, you'll not receive an answer.

Its kinda like a cycle of revenge in a way.

The mages break free.

The Templars fight back,

The Mages fight back harder.

So the Templars do something drastic to contain them

Becoming the very thing they once swore to fight.

No they are running around slaughtering towns and using magic that corrupts.

The Red Templars definitely need to be put down it seems.

This is a great way of putting something I was trying to get at earlier thank you. :P

Red templars are knew and without lyrium templars can't become "very thing they once swore to fight." even arlik who is seen as worst templar to that day was far from abomnation.

Does one really need magic and demons to become as bad as an abomination?
Alrik was proposing mass lobotomies and was raping who knows how many?

Magic and demons certainly give a person a great deal of power.

But a templar with authority, certainty in their views, and time can bring as much damage to an area.

Give a person power, fill them with propaganda and hate, then push them.

In the end you will create a monster as certainly as possessing someone would.

It still isn't far from abomnation arlik may be di*** but he don't desire total destruction and killing everything on his sight not mention that he is dangerous on individual scale like most humans when abomnation at worst is danger on local scale ending at world scale danger.

I admit it is actually going to be really interesting to see the powers and capabilities of the Red Templars and what their powers and abilities will be in comparison.  Will they just have super strength monstrosities or will the Red Lyrium give them magic like humans possessed by Pride Demons?

TKS as a Templar would be kind of funny tough:

"Ok men, we have to decide what to do about this new Kirkwall Circle...

Annul it!

The last time we did that we needed a new Knight Commander, a new Chantry, a new half of Kirkwall...

Don't annul it!"

"Sir, I have found evidence of blood magic in this mage's quarters.

Those are tampons, recruit.

The foulest of magic, I tell you!"

I laughed. And admit I probably shouldn't have.

I feel like they might be a mixture between arcane horrors and golems

Even if you are "worst" kind of psycho you won't cause near as damage as abomnation pretty much society would put you down.Arlik was harmless for anyone who wasn't mage.

Destruction of the city - a huge amount of peoples dead and huge damage.

No damage caused by rape huh? You're a horrible person. Enjoy.

This is completely untrue, Psycho's get away with being psycho's all the time and some of them have huge body counts.

Yes. Ignoring the obvious mental and emotional trauma that comes with being forcibly violated, rapists are hardly gentle with their victims and can cause severe external or internal damage. People have died from rape. So as a word of warning, shut up on things that you have no knowledge of.

I apologize as well. Here, let's try to set it back right.

So...how 'bout them Red Templars, huh?

They seem silly. Though that's more because we have no context behind them.

Well, here's hoping they're at least three times faster than a regular Templar. (When you throw them off a cliff.)

Fascinating topic but really the point I was wondering, more or less was the influence of Red Lyrium and how it could turn Templars into abomination like creatures.  Specifically I asked: Is Red Lyrium demonically influenced?  This quesstion has not been answered and not sure if it has but it did result in a rather fascinating conversation based on how Red Lyrium operates, what are its effects, is it sentient, and why in Maker's name would regular Templars consume it or be near it to the point of corrupting thmselves?  Not as a means of which side is better or worse or has the bigger grievance.  Both sides are both pretty good and pretty crummy.  Both can kill.  Both can be corrupted, and both can be quite dangerous.

Indeed, which to me makes it fun to speculate, and truth be told they could just be DA Is new answer to the Darkspawn and just grunting drooling idiots running around killing people and corrupting small bandits.  Actually thanks to this thread I see a lot of comparisons between the RTs and the Darkspawn/ taint.  However, what fascinates me...again becuase of this thread...what is the potential agenda of the Red Lyrium?  Does it have one?  If the Red Templars are being manipulated by some higher power and are otherwise drooling non sentient insane idiots...then what is the agenda of said higher power?  Are they a manifestation of the so called big bad, or merely a different means to the same end?
