Another curiousity about red lyrium: Why is it that some templars who use red lyrium do not petrify as Meredith did? Is it because they refined it? Is it because the Lyrium feeds off of those the Red Templars have slain? If that was the case, why didn't the lyrium idol accept the sacrifices of mages Meredith personally slew herself, why continue to feed from her until she was the idol herself? A lot of this is just... interesting.

Which is why I think its worth talking about. :P Even though I had no idea this thread would bring all these issues to light.  And whose to say most Red Templars AREN'T Petrified in some manner or another?  After all Meredith had the ability to control stone.  So it is more then convievable that, in adition to everything else, Behemouth's are partially/ all stone when we have to fight them.  Might explain the exisistance of armor that seemed to be a thing in the Pax demo.

Fascinating topic but really the point I was wondering, more or less was the influence of Red Lyrium and how it could turn Templars into abomination like creatures.  Specifically I asked: Is Red Lyrium demonically influenced?  This quesstion has not been answered and not sure if it has but it did result in a rather fascinating conversation based on how Red Lyrium operates, what are its effects, is it sentient, and why in Maker's name would regular Templars consume it or be near it to the point of corrupting thmselves?  Not as a means of which side is better or worse or has the bigger grievance.  Both sides are both pretty good and pretty crummy.  Both can kill.  Both can be corrupted, and both can be quite dangerous.

Well, if Lyrium is basically magic in its physical form, is it possible that Red Lyrium is blood magic in its physical form?

I couldn't be happier about the inclusion and introduction of Red Templars into the franchise.

If it is possible I hope that I can stand aside and allow them to do what comes naturally for as long as possible. Only stepping in when the plot dictates.

The Andrastians deserve their Red Templars, may they both rot in hell.

...Once again someone has found a much better way of saying what I have been thinking.  :P  For a while now actually.  It would make sense though in the end considering blood magic, whatever else it is, is really really powerful.

Pretty intense that explanation, but an interesting one.

Thanks.

And while maybe not actually blood magic, it's possible that it was the type of magic taught that was replicated via blood magic. The Thaig it was found in does predate Dwarven records, which expand far beyond the development of blood magic.

I was gonna ask this questio as well.

I believe that they prepare red lyrium the same way as they do regular lyrium. I am sure that raw lyium = bad at the very least

This Red Lyrium= Blood magic does a raise another question though...why does it seem to effect Dwarves more then most?  Certain Dwarves in particular?  Not that it does not effect non Dwarves but the effect ON Dwarves seems to be darn near instantaneous.

Well isn't blood magic mainly using life force to fuel spells? So I doubt it's the same but seeing as it seems more powerful than regular lyrium it could have similar effects.

Like I said in my post after that, Red Lyrium could be the form of magic that eventually the Forbidden Ones taught the Magisters to replicate via blood magic.

This is completely untrue, Psycho's get away with being psycho's all the time and some of them have huge body counts.

Eee they don't if individual become danger for society peoples will remove such individual from society...

Yes. Ignoring the obvious mental and emotional trauma that comes with being forcibly violated, rapists are hardly gentle with their victims and can cause severe external or internal damage. People have died from rape. So as a word of warning, shut up on things that you have no knowledge of.

priceless and hypocritical as you in basic did that now.It wasn't about harm done to human only about damage done environment and as i said it is only harm on emotional level when destruction of the city is huge damage and cost huge amount of peoples life.It is silly even to compare, that it is like compare car accident to explosion of nuclear bomb in the middle of the city...

I thought the Old Gods taught the Magisters blood magic?

Ah ok, I missed that. If it is then does that mean Red Templars could be possessed by demons?

Well, TKS is now on my Ignore list. Saying rape only harms on an emotional level is just so...I can't find the words to express my disgust right now.

finally. :)

In theory yes but it doesn't always play out that way. If it did then there would never have been any genocidal dictators throughout our history but there have been tons of those.  :D

There a few origin stories for the creation of blood magic. Some say Old Gods, some say Forbidden Ones, some even say the ancient elves. I just choose to think Forbidden Ones. Though it could be any, or even all three.

Or the Old Gods and Forbidden ones could be quite related to begin with. :P

Regular Templars were able to be possessed, as shown in DA2.

He'll say something like "Nope, they have an army while abomination is a single person".

Many of them were put down sooner or later or at first place weren't danger to society they live and rule and in none of them had desire to destroy world. And not every of them did only not nice things.

True but only with the help of Mages. I am just thinking that all the Red Templars could be and even Meredith could have been but then do demons need to possess people now, what with the fade tears?

They still might want to.  Because it seems that Pride Demons and Desire Demons even when they are on this side of the Veil still use humans as pawns manipulate them and turn them on their friends, bewitch them, etc, or just take human form.  I guess the point is Demons like to 'blend in' if nothing else, use mortals, and wreck havoc, just because a demon is on this side of the Veil is no gurantee they will not be open for possessing people.

Are we forgetting the point of this conversation? Non of that is in any way relevant.

"Even if you are "worst" kind of psycho you won't cause near as damage as abomnation pretty much society would put you down"

Also, since when do Abominations want to destroy the world?
