Werewolves are overdone. Let's be a Pride Demon or a Sylvan!

I hope we don't, Vamps and Weres seem to be rare things in DA.  The only ones I know of were the werewolves in Origins due to a compact with a spirit.

It's not as great as it sounds, honestly. It entails eating your own poop and being infested with fleas.

....Why would you want to become a werewolf? Unless the Lady of the Forest is around, you're a mangy beast who's sole purpose is to rage and destroy things...not to mention bite people, particularly the Dalish. Considering they live in a forest and probably wouldn't be able to bathe much (not that many people in Thedas would in general) I wouldn't want to bite them.

If we're going with DA:O's werewolves it would seem like an instant game over. You become a werewolf, your character goes on a killing spree and you loose control of them.

Werewolves were rabid and mindless, and it appeared to be a permanent form unless the curse was broken. All around bad idea if you ask me.

There's always Skyrim for that sort of thing.

Not saying it'll happen, but at the same time, always keep in mind that nothing is really set in stone when it comes to fiction.  If they really wanted to include a lycanthropy mechanic for the player, the devs can retcon / create new lore to explain why it's possible.

I don't think lore itself is the problem, the lore supports the idea of werewolves that can go back and forth, that's why dogs became so popular in Ferelden.  Ferelden historically had big werewolf problems, and dogs can detect werewolves even in human form.  I've gotten the impression that it's the same technical gameplay issues described in some of the Shapeshifting spec topics that makes it unlikely to happen.  But it would be cool, I've always liked werewolves.  :)
