Untidy people have untidy PCs! - An eastern proverb
That's just a sad PC!
i5 2500K (non-OCed), ASUS GTX660ti 3GB, 8GB 1333 RAM, 1TB HDD. nothing special, but it runs everything i play in good quality. think i´ll get a new PC at the end of this year.

I wouldn't throw that graphic card aside when I wanted to get another PC if I were you.

You actually installed Gentoo. Stallman would be proud you /g/entleman.
I appreciate my freedoms tbh

What
There are only 3 pragmatic upgrades you could make to that rig - an SSD, a cooler to overclock the CPU and a new graphics card if you really wanted highest settings for your games.
Buying a whole new PC would be a waste. It's not like the 2500k is treacle slow. A decent overclock and it's as good as current Intel processors games wise.
i know, i know. the problem is: i don´t have a Z MB (stupid in combination with a K CPU, i know), so overclocking is not an option and also not really necessary because i mostly hit the gpu-limit. (btw i already have a custom cooler, the boxed cooler was too loud for me.)
a SSD will definitely be in my next pc, but i don´t want to reinstall windows and all the other things so i didn´t upgraded it.
what also bugs me is the crappy memory interface of my graphics card (192bit), unfortunately i didn´t pay attention to it when i bought this card. (as an example: 6% more memory-clock result in 10% less gpu-usage in NFSHP which i run in 2400x1350 and with 4xAA)
the case is rather crappy too, and, more important, i simply don´t want to upgrade this rig again.
i know it´s a bit irrational, but hey, just let me be ![]()

Obviously it doesn't deserve a thread cuz my budget is too low!

Seriously, did your PC cost you the price of a car?!

i only know the prices in €, but i think the best card in this price range is the AMD R9 270X.

The worth difference between € and $ is about 4 to 3. That means 4000$ ~= 3000 €.
For the exact rate you can take a look at financial websites.

Sadly GTX 750 Ti is garbage and isn't much better than my GPU right now:
http://www.hwcompare...rce-gtx-750-ti/
Buying it will be a waste of 150-160$.
But with 190-200$ I can buy a GTX 660 2 GB which is quite good but not as perfect as GTX 680!

and to compare with the boss: GTX 680

lol, the gtx750ti is much better than your gts250, but it´s not a good gaming card.

and the gtx660 is just ~20% faster than the the gtx750ti. if you don´t need shadow play or PhysX, you should try to get an AMD HD7870, just a few % faster than the gtx660, but the HD7XXX usually have a high overclocking potential. (in fact the HD7870 is exactly the same card as the R9 270X). i guess the gtx660ti costs "much" more than 200$ and isn´t an option.

Afaik the GTX 660Ti is just shy of 200 bucks over where I live (Germany, but that still means around 200 bucks for the US as you guys do not pay as much taxes in that price tag!) and is a brilliant GPU. Roughly on par with a HD 7950 and if overclocked easily on par with a GTX 670 in everything that doesn't eat VRAM like some monster. Also very overclocklable. My own Gigabyte Windforce x2 OC GTX 660Ti runs @ around 1Ghz core clock and together with my i5 3570K sees me to fluid 60+ fps @ 1080p and High-to-Ultra settings in Bf4 MP with very rare dips in the fifties in real tough situations for the GPU.
The problem however is actually finding a GTX 660Ti nowadays. For a bit more you can get a GTX 760, but those aren't much faster and in my opinion not fast enough to warrant the higher price just because they have a 7 and not a 6 up front (really, last reviews and benchmarks I had checked placed the 760 barely above the 660Ti).
And yeah, the 750 and 750Ti aren't good gaming cards, they are entry-level gaming GPUs. Good for most games, but underpowered if you want to run demanding stuff with good quality.
For gaming, I wouldn't settle below a GTX 660/Ti/760 or HD 7870/R9 270X. Interestingly, that's also all the power an average gamer needs, so it really is a sweet spot. Shell out those 200-230 bucks and you have a really good gaming GPU.
