I'm actually a little confused about the Vashoth vs Tal-Vashoth thing.

I'll explain. A bunch of BioPeeps got together and said 'We've seen how the fandom has treated Qunari vs Kissoth, so lets introduce more qunari specific terms that add little to the fans' understanding of the race, but provide argument fodder for the forums.'

indeed I am mostly in a wait and see mode, I really hope e3 we get a small snip that has no real story in it and all the origin stories for the characters (I know we don't play them but they all do have an origin story.) and hopefully more clarity about our qunquizitor.

Well, given that the Ben-Hassrath contains women who go out and hunt traitors (Tal-Vashoth), and there were about a dozen episodes of star trek involving the hunter defecting to the side of the hunted, I'd say its more common than we think. After spending years hunting down Tal-Vashoth our hypothetical Ben-Hassrath (BH) will become more and more sympathetic to the plight of those fleeing (as happens in every single one of those star trek episodes) then eventually she flees herself, or she meets a special individual she was ordered to hunt down, and decides instead that he deserves freedom, and decides she does too.

Star Trek references aren't terribly valid for possible scenarios but since I can't think of any real world equivalent to Ben-Hassrath its what I've got.

According to Bioware our Qunquisitor is a Vasoth, a Qunari who was never a member of the Qun, not Tal-Vasoth, those who were but defected from it. If we were Tal- Vasoth, Ben-Hassarth of Saarebas would explain how our Inquisitor learned to fight. Remember while women do not serve in the army they are trained as spies, saboteurs, priests and envoys. Remember Rasaan from the comics? She was a priest and was able to hold her own against Isabela for a whie. As for being a mage Saarebas means 'dangerous thing'. They are seen as 'it' not him or her. However since we are not Tal-Vasoth. I going for a Malcolm/Leandra situation. i.e. Our dad fell in love with our mom, ran away, dad became a mercenary and taught how to fight or control your magic(depending on which class you choose) while your mom taught you about the Qun to avoid being snuffed out by Ben-Hassrath. That's just my theory anyway.

Bioware only said the qunari was  Tal-vasoth. They never said they were or were not ever part of the Qun.

I've checked the articles and the wiki, they seem pretty certain on that fact.

If we was never part of the Qun, then we're called Vashoth

Bw only said that mage qunari were never part of the qun. Not all player qunari.

Added that comment in the wiki has no source. It's not valid till it does.

What does that have to do with our qunquisitor being a Voshoth?

The point that "Voshoth" never is set a valid name for qunari who where never part of the qun.

This is what it says in the codex on that matter..

"When Qunari abandon the teachings of Qun they become known as Vashoth in the Qunari society"

With all the elves regardless of class being Dalish(still worst news of Inquisition. :crying: ), I highly doubt the Qunari of all races are getting two backstories. Plus where did they say they were only talking about the Qunari Mage?

It was stated bw a bw writer in one of Qunari topics that it was qunari mages that were never part of the qun.

I'm not going to dig through all these top[ic to find a month old topic. Heck, the person saying player Qunari are only non-qun interaction only does not have a valid source for it ether.

You're both right.

Those who abandon the Qun are no longer considered to be Qunari. They become Vashoth, "grey ones", though these outcasts prefer the nameTal-Vashoth, "true grey ones". Most Tal-Vashoth are former soldiers and become mercenaries, and are considered by Qunari to be worse than bas.[3]

...the wiki has already stated that Qunari who leave the Qun are known as Vashoth. However those who leave the Qun refer to themselves call themselves Tal-Vashoth. It is possible that Qunari who follow the Qun refer to any Qunari outside the Qun as Vashoth.

Just leave well enough alone, I say. We'll need something right from Gaiders own mouth or we'll be arguing forever. They've totally confused everyone with contradictory information.

The link I posted are from Gaidar.

True, but they told us we have never been part of the Qun. I'll take Bioware's word.
