The Mattock isn't so bad in ME3. The only thing that the Harrier really has over it is the rapid fire, but the Mattock is still just as powerful if not more so per shot at the same level, and it's both lighter and has a greater capacity with the same mods (or lack thereof).
It's the only weapon my MP Vanguard is using, and it's served me well so far.
As for ME2, all of the weapons went down that same road. The Predator was actually a really formidable pistol, and the Avenger was a force to be reckoned with once you got all the upgrades.

Harrier is easy mode! I have an N7 Mattock and would prefer N7 over Cerberus anyday!
I dunno, I like the Harrier, but I go through ammo even more quickly with it than the Mattock. The Mattock forces you to be selective.... of course, I'm talking SP only here. I've only ever done a three minute solo attempt in MP.
Once tried a solo attempt in Silver...reached only until round 6 ![]()
And that while having a Hurricane, too (I). It may be a brazen bull in your hands, but if you're a good Vanguard you won't care about that ![]()

Most Vanguards play recklessly. Charge then Nova....rinse and repeat! They usually get impaled sooner or later....

This is kind of why the Mattock is one of my favorite guns to use as a Vanguard. It's really accurate, so I can pick off targets and get good headshots without bothering to charge all the time, and when I do charge, it has enough punch that I can tap the trigger quickly to finish them off rather than spam nova and sacrifice my shields.
I will say though that the Harrier is great in that there's a really great balance between getting single shots off and going full auto by simply tapping the trigger.

The Pro way to handle the Vanguard is too Nova cancel and dance around a Cerberus Turret! I use to go for full damage and force on Nova, but now, I go for half blast...

Can't argue with that.

I always go half blast, but in my reckless charge at everything days, I often ended up with multiple enemies firing in my direction, so bringing my shields down by half just meant they stripped it faster.

This is why Nova canceling around the map is the best way to move with a Vanguard. Nova nullifies damage over time effects as well as damage...

Like I do. But being brave doesn't mean being an idiot ![]()
I managed to go thought my entire first ME3 Insanity playthought with only using Medi-Gel 3 times (I was collecting all the XP I could at that moment). and hardly ever reloading. I managed that by:
- NovaCharge defenseless and useless troopers.
- Deploy Pull + Flare Biotic combos to take out out-of-reach or dangerous to Charge positions. Or at least debilitate them enough for a NovaCharge to be safe.
- Venom shotgun against Banshees/Atlases/Brutes/Adjuntants/Primes.
Easiest playthoughts of my life.

The Pro way is a charged Venom slug in the turret's face. Problem solved.

Venom is OP in Story Mode. Prefer the MP nerfed version for more ragdoll than bloody slushies!

Don't have it in MP, but I heard about that.

I still play ME3 every couple of months. Despite its faults, I really enjoy the game. I like being emersed in the mass effect universe during some down time. It's also why I visit this forum. I'm wondering why you would visit a forum dedicated to a game, to announce that you're not playing said game, and you find it boring. Seems redundant.
Also, I'm in love with the lancer. Cause 1 - It just rips through everything and suits my play style, and 2 - That god damn mass effect one nostalgic feeling it gives me. If I could fire that gun at geth while driving a Mako up a mountain, I'd be one happy fanboy.
I take breaks. I luv my ME games.
Played them on Xbox360 x30 playthru's (not all completed). Playing them on PC currently (along with other things).
!Yeah new Gaming PC!

Stuff like that is why I restrict the entire squad to using N7 weapons. Only exception is for the Paladin, because I prefer my backup sidearms to be pistols with real punch. Shep on the other hand, will be using what is most appropriate for their class. My Renegon Yuuhi has been going back and forth between the BP Punisher V, Hurricane V, and Paladin V. After Citadel, she'll be using the Lancer 25/8 cause its just that damn good.
Yeah I'm bored of it. But I did a lot more than one playthrough. It's true though, not that much changes depending on your choices.
A serious question though: are you trolling? because it seems pretty apparent that you're trying to.
I really feel sorry for you that you're bored with the trilogy because of 3. Just remember it's not about the destination it's about the journey, and the journey is beautiful.
Well, to tell the truth, after enjoying the journey X times, anyone could tend to grow a bit tired of it...(not that I am...apart from loving the ME universe in general, I can't get enough of enjoying a war where there aren't stupid conscience handicaps).
Anyone worn out of ME trilogy? I tried starting my second playthrough but couldn't get past Eden prime since I know exactly whats going to happen an how everything accomplished is pointless and doesn't change a single thing. If there were anything specific I wanted to see I can just youtube it. I can find myself playing other games countless times but this one just doesn't motivate me enough. Maybe if ME3 wasn't released yet then yea replaying 1 & 2 would seem worth it but after knowing what'll happen in 3, doesn't seem that worth it. Im at the point of either retiring from video games completely or looking for a game that has good story, replay value, an gameplay mechanics. Thoughts? Because Im done with ME.
Yeah the same thing happened to me. I unfortunately found out what the endings were the day after I first loaded up ME3, nuking the entire process for me. Of course I immediately turned into The Lady In Black - "never forgive". But with time I've gotten over what I considered "the insult" of having all that effort through the first two games amount to a metaphorical road to Rome.
Nowadays though, I can't replay. It'd just take too long and yes, I would know what's around every corner and how to beat every situation. But I don't think that's any different than any other "mostly" scripted games. When I want something different in a single player game, I run Skyrim, which is completely open ended and randomly generates quests so nothing ever happens twice.
As for new games, I am trying once again on the MMO front with Elder Scrolls Online. And next up in tandem with that will probably be Watchdogs. That's the new "It Game" coming up this week or next, and the possibilities listed on that for gameplay are mostly unbelieveable.
I do wish there was a real single player game included with Titanfall. But I just knew by the time I got it loaded, half the other players would be Pacific Rim level experts and I'd get the crap beaten out of me or get trampled by a Titan every time I rezzed.
