I can play my canon Shepard over and over to further refine him into the character and playthrough I want.

And in my first suicide mission, I only lost the entire crew out of not sending an escort with them. I misunderstood the dialogue and thought I had to go back myself thought the vents round, and I was like "NO WAY!".
Apart from that, everyone survived. Even an unloyal Miranda.
