i always made them wardens.... alright, i can understand carver, but every time we saw bethany as a warden in act 2 and 3 (searching for nathaniel quest) she was always pissed at us like carver normally was.... i understand she didnt want to be a warden, but with her character, i assumed she would have understood the reason and had no hard feelings toward hawke.... but her being mad just really pis-sed me off

Assuming the Grey Warden returns at all in DA:I, it would be cool if he or she reappeared with a Warden entourage, Bethany among them.

Grey Warden Bethany, with a good relationship and Templar Carver as a rival.

Warden Carver is actually more or less grateful: he's given a purpose in life. Warden Bethany just feels like she's entered a death-sentence and it makes her angry (rationally I don't think Bethany blames this on Hawke, but she needs to take that anger out on someone).

Can Keep let us do this? Because this is my canon:

I just use the default Hawke faces, and feel Carver matches Ladyhawke better (pale skin/blue eyes). Bethany seems to have been made to match male Hawke (tan skin/brown eyes).
My simple way of handling it at least. ymmv. Essentially it means Lady Hawke is a mage in my playthroughs.

Templar Carver is my cannon.
I'm inclined to think that Carver and Bethany won't show up at all. Mainly because their appearance is different based on what your Hawke looks like. And the Keep doesn't have appearance data in it (supposedly). So, either Hawke would have to show up first with a character creator, with something to base their appearance off of, or character creators would have to pop up for them. Which would be a bit immersion breaking (I do feel its immersion breaking for Hawke and the Warden as well, but I'm much more excited about seeing them so I don't mind).
Plus I'm starting to feel like too many cameos from the first 2 games will make the world feel too small.

I know this uses "outside knowledge", but after playing through DAO as a Warden I just didn't want Carver to go through that life. *I* wouldn't even want to play a Warden again, tbh.

My Warden went through that in Awakening. Only reason I recruited anyone was if they were basically going to die otherwise (Anders, Sigrun), or didn't care about them at all (Velanna).

Carver as a Warden is my favorite, because then I like to think he's with my Origins crew.

neither of them really bring much to the table, beyond creepy incest requests

2. Carver dead (Deep Roads), Bethany dead (Lothering)
3. Carver alive (Warden), Bethany dead (Lothering)
Bethany-as-Warden just makes me incredibly sad.

I disagree.
After all is said and done, I think family is the big draw for me with Hawke. The whole immigrant makes good story to be exact.
I could've done without the mage/templar angle (which is really just Anders' time to hijack the show). Hawke means little to the politics of Thedas as we were led to believe. What remains is just a family story.

A story about how unbelievably useless and annoying his family is? Gamlen is a piece of crap, Carver is a pain in the ass, Bethany is admittedly better but both siblings barely appear. Leandra(sp?) is the ebst of the bunch, but I never really felt any sort of connection with Hawke's family

Yeah, it seems like it would require a lot of work, and if they just show up in a cameo, not a lot of pay off. I'd just want to know that they're okay after the events of DA2, so even hearing about them secondhand from Varric would be fine with me.

Gamlen is a piece of crap, but he redeems himself to me in Act 3.
edit: More like, the more everything goes to crap in Act 3, the more I like Gamlen. All of the "Rise to Power" was never worth it.

I liked the idea of having family be part of the game, but it was poorly handled in DA2

Hawke isn't awesome enough like the Lannisters or Targaryens to pull it off
