Nope. I barely like people coming into my room. Why would I want a bunch of random asshat demons into my whole planet?

It's tempting, but actually, I'd be more lured by a sloth demon. That's my real sin. :D

I'd have to see what the likely outcome would be. What are the pros and cons of doing it? There's the fact that demons would have access to the world, but are there benefits that would balance that fact? I'm not necessarily of the automatic belief that the veil collapsing would automatically be bad. We'd just have to wait and see more evidence first, I think.

To be honest, though, I doubt we'll get a choice whether to fix the veil or let it collapse. Probably we'll either automatically fix it, or we'll have the choice to express whether or not we'd like to fix it, and it will collapse, anyway. This isn't the last DA game, or at least they'd rather it not be, so I doubt they'll make an ending that they can't easily sum up for in the start of the next game without diverging from someone else's playthrough.

why?

i mean for both sides. Demons feed on human emotions. Demons need humans or other living beings. If you open fade rift to consume the planet it's  possible that result of all that would be the end of live on this planet and end of the Fade realm as well.

another thing. when Chaos Lord do something fun like slaughtereing entire planet in the name of Gods or God, he do that in order to get some boons. Like to have the ability to take life with the touch or to receive a fragment of immortality or to become a Prince of Ruinous Powers. In DA setting it's uknown if gods of any manner exists. To who should i make such offering?

So again - why should i do that?

Too boring, there is literally no reason to so. Aside from 'watching the world burn'. And maybe our Inquisitor is jaded enough to think wiping the slate clean is the best course, but even so killing everyone and merging the realms is an abrupt ending that I don't think fits the setting.

Does it? I must have missed the confirmation that Sandal isn't just a lyrium infected dwarf who is (very moderately) insane.

Sandal's prophecy means that the status quo will return at the end of DAI.

"Everyone will be just like they were."

J/K. The question doesn't have enough context. If the benefit of opening a world wide Fade rift equates to everyone becoming a magi then it's something to consider. And then there're the legends that's prevalent in just about every culture barring the Qunari and modern humans that long ago the Fade and mundane world were actually one.

That's not a benefit. You would turn everyone in the world into a demonic all-you-can-eat walking buffet and then open the door wide for them.

Why would demons and spirits need to possess people to cross into the mundane world... if there wouldn't be a mundane world anymore under those circumstances? Regardless, we don't have enough knowledge and context on the situation to judge appropriately.

Crossing over is not the only reason demons possess mages or simply attach themselves to other people. Some do it just for power, others to experience what it's like to be human.

"I crave action! And excitement!" - Connor's demon

Sounds kind of cool at first, but I guess the demon's version of excitement is raising an army of undead and wiping out a little town and feeding elf ears to dogs.

Show me a codex 'cause my memory is hazy. Every form of possession I've encountered thus is motivated by a demon trying to crossover into the mortal plane or spirits coaxed into service by Spirit Healers.

The Fade melding with the mortal plane might as well make possession as enticing as taking a vacation from my bedroom to my living room.

Well, there's Uldred who was all giddy over how powerful the Warden would be if joined with a demon.

To be fair, if there was no Veil then there is no real reason for demons to possess people. They are still connected to the Fade.

Does possession change the parasite? In the case of Connor, did the Desire Demon know what action and excitement were before the bond? Learning about these things could be a motivation in itself. I think the writers need to be more clear about 'the rules' in regards to demons and possession. As of right now all that's been confirmed is that they want to leave the Fade.

Yes for 2 reasons

1) the game lets me. This adds replay value. at least for me

2) my femquisitor mage will be powerful enough to make the demons do her bidding. She wants to rule Thedas and when people see her, they bow in her honor. If they don't, she will let the demons have their way with the peasants.

Eh... it depends. Various lore tidbits have implied that at some point in the past the Veil did not exist. However, I can't recall any mention of what life was like for the average Thedosian back then. Sandal's prophecy + elven beliefs make it sound like everyone had access to magic, which could be a good thing ("If everyone is special, NO ONE will be!") but the pesky demons running rampant kinda throw a wrench in any plans for a harmonious future of peaceful coexistence.

tl;dr If it is ultimately the best thing for Thedas and its people, why not? Otherwise, nah.

Well it's not like demons are breeding so we just need to merge the two planes and commit demon genocide.

Problem solved.
