BTW, if this is what the Ghouls will look like, it raises my hopes for suitably monstruous Darkspawn.

Yes, its on the Dragon Age website. Under the news heading there's a section on the Grey Wardens and the Darkspawn. Theres a picture of that Ghoul and a Hurlock Alpha helpfully captioned Hurlock Alpha and Long-Infected Ghoul.

That's what I meant. The Darkspawn would think nothing of killing male Wardens on their Calling, but a female would be a prime target since she is already corrupted.

Female Wardens are also barren, or practically barren, and won't let themselves get captured. I think the Darkspawn kill the female Wardens aswell. Too much hassle to attempt to capture them.

I don't think that really matters since it's the Taint that makes them that way. So Ghouls are most likely sterile or nearly sterile as well yet they become Broodmothers. I don't think the fertility of someone is even a factor since they are molded so much by the Darkspawn during the transformation via force feeding them the stuff they vomit out.

Can you point out where? If you mean the thin abdomen compared to what appear to be wide hips, I think that's more to do with them being malnourished. If you look closely you can see the rib cage.

In Branka's journey thay had plany of wariors to fight the darkspawn and yet 1 became a brood mother.

 

I have always believed that female wardens/ ghouls can easily become broodmothers due to them surviving the taint for X amount of years ( plus being a warden)

 

Nobody will allow themseves to become prisoners to the darkspawns; especially if they have the power

I wonder if the Wardens have a 'commit suicide in the event of imminent capture' mindset? I mean, they'd always know when they can't win since they can sense Darkspawn and thus ambushes never work.

It's been implied that they do as a group (especially high ranking Wardens), but it doesn't always work out. Some are captured too quickly while other's can't bring themselves to kill themselves.

 

I'll admit that as a guy I'd probably hold out hope for rescue (at least for a little while), but if I was a girl I'd slit my throat in a heartbeat rather than risk becoming a broodmother

Alistair said that they dont have any famales in thier particular order. it makes sense when you think about it now.

 

I am sure senior female wardens (or not) will find out the fate of female wardens.

 

It may depend on the warden commander if they should recruit females at all

well the idea of the calling is to fight hard enough so that darkspawn will have to kill them. At least for the women... males don't have to worry much about being captured.

 

Honestly if I was a warden(of either gender) I would kill myself instead of going on the calling.

But the concept of the Calling is to take as many of the creatures down with you, you know the whole "in death, sacrifice" thing the Wardens have going on is that even though you're going to die, you'll make sure to take as many of the unholy buggers as you can with you.   Just make sure that you actually die in your suicide attack, not get captured. 

 

Personally, I'd try to bring a Lyrium bomb down with me and when I'm hopelessly surrounded...BOOM!!!

The men have to be worried about being tortured and interrogated, which isn't as bad as turning into a Broodmother but still isn't fun.

You never know, in the long run a dozen or so Darkspawn may not matter, but every Darkspawn that a Warden kills on their Calling is a Darkspawn that won't be killing, tainting, or abducting someone else and I'm sure they'd appreciate it.

Keep in mind there's a distinction between "Warden ghoul" and "regular human ghoul." The Wardens take a lot longer to get to that stage.
