I've played Origins many times, but now I'm trying something I haven't before.  I want to romance Alistair until he becomes King, then have my character turn to Leliana for comfort and end the game with her romance.  I assume this is possible, but I want to make sure I don't screw it up by ending the chance for a Leliana romance early in the game.  Should I just avoid speaking with her?  Or if I turn her down while still involved with Alistair, will I get another chance to start the Leliana romance later?

My one game I tried to do both, had only flirted with Alistair but he was above 50 approval, Leliana was at full "Love" 100 approval.  Leliana asked about my relationship with him and automatically broke up with my city elf (she was really sweet about it, encouraging the warden to pursue Alistair) when i accidentally clicked on her.  I guess, if you plan on doing both, make sure you finish him before you do her, just don't talk to her and trigger the romance till after you break up with him.

 Do not click on any of the Marjolaine responses regarding her personal quest when it is completed. You can dump her even in a mean way and rekindle a romance with her using that, as long as you have enough approval with her. Try to also keep her plot gifts as well (Andraste's Grace and the Cute Nug) to raise her approval of you and spark a romance.

Thanks for the advice, I'll hold off on talking about the Marjolaine ordeal until after Alistair dumps Mahariel.  That should work perfectly.

I've done that with Zevran but not Leliana

I find Leliana hard to romance. Tried with fce. No joy. Al and Zev are easy. I take it that all that hinges on Marjolaine?

Ya, you have to do her companion quest to get her approval from "Adore" to "Love" (if it's high enough), or "Caring" from "Warm".  The difficult part is vanilla Leliana is bugged (sometimes her companion quest doesn't trigger if her approval rises too fast), but its a bit tricky if you are romancing her.  I installed a mod to fix that.

I did that recently but yeah I did Marjoline's quest and didn't speak to Leliana again til after the Landsmeet. It worked just fine then.
