I have been out of the forum for a long time so i need a bit of catching up. Can someone give me detail of the plot. I hear morrigan is back, what is her role? What is happening in Orlais? Do the wardens play a role? I would happy with a link too.

Can someone give me detail of the plot.

You are the sole survivor of a huge explosion which has ripped open something referred to as the Breach, which is a massive tear in the Veil that left unchecked will swallow the entire world. You form the Second Inquisition to find those responsible and try to stop them. All the while you have a magical ability to close Veil tears.

I hear morrigan is back, what is her role?

Unknown. It is rumored she is a court mage for Empress Celene.

What is happening in Orlais?

They are in the middle of a civil war between Empress Celene and Duke Gaspard.

Do the wardens play a role?

Yes, though what that role is we don't know. All we know is we may be fighting them.

Here's the trailer:

Absolutely no details on plot have been confirmed beyond:

1) The game opens at a peace conference (between whom is left ambiguous as there are multiple warring groups: Mages and Templars, Celene and Gaspard, City Elves and humans in general.)

2) Said conference ends with a magical explosion killing everyone present except *you*.

3) Somehow after this *you* have the unique ability to close fade rifts, and so become the inquisitor.

4)....

There are quite a few other details that we have quite a bit of evidence for, but none that are dev confirmed. There are threads for each companion and the first post in each contains essentially every confirmed detail about each (which is about 3 paragraphs total for all 9 of them).

If you want a good idea of how DAI starts read The Masked Empire, it is not only a great book, but it reads pretty much like a direct prequel to the game, it sets the stage as it were.

To add to the above information:

There are 9 companions, three of each class, and we know what all of them look like, who a few of them are, but not all by name. They're Varric, Cassandra (Confirmed romancable), Sera, Vivienne, The Iron Bull, Dramatic Hands Moustache Guy (DHMG, for short), Solas, A Grey Warden and Probably Cole. Each of them have threads and DAwiki pages.

The Inquisition also has 3 advisors, who are probably:

Leliana, Cullen (confirmed romancable) and an unknown lady who we all call Scribbles.

Morrigan is not a companion. She arrived in Orlais suddenly, three years ago as the newly-appointed "arcane advisor" to Empress Celene. Nobody knows whether she seeks to influence the Imperial throne or has more sinister motives. In her position she presents a source of information unfiltered by religious dogma, while simultaneously satisfying Celene's life-long curiosity about magic. However, there are concerned rumors going around that she has Celene wrapped around her finger and is teaching the Empress dark, forbidden arts in secret. Interestingly, "The story of Inquisition is [Morrigan's] moment," says creative directore Mark Laidlaw. "[She] has a human role in this plot," adds Gaider, "which I think may surprise some people because they might only think of her as a plot device."

Good to know!

3 years ago? From the ending of TME it seems like DAI starts at most a few months later (and probably sooner than that), and there is absolutely no mention of Morrigan, plus it seems like Morrigan would have taken an active hand in protecting her investment had she actually been around for that. It seems to me to make the most sense if Morrigan appeared after the civil war began, but I suppose it is possible that Morrigan was around for both TME and Asunder (which take place slightly concurrently, TME is a bit before Asunder, but parts of it should be overlapping).

It seems morrigan left my warden in the other dimension taking care of my child while she plays politics. XD
