She's a completely different asari. Why was it changed? If her voice actress had changed, noone would've recognized who she was. I find this unnecessary change utterly lame. It's not like the face usage rights were withdrawn or something. Why didn't Bioware use Aethyta's original face? The voice is the same, the face is different.
WHY?
You should look at her face in ME2 after drinking the Mystery Drink.

Aethyta was a soft purple in ME2, going from that to sharp blue in around 6 months is a huge difference. And that's not even the biggest difference. The face is completely different.
When I played through that part for the first time, I didn't even recognize her. Only knew who she was from the subtitles and later I recognized the voice.
It's common in BioWare games, just look at Alistair or Leliana in Dragon Age and then look at them in DA2. Character consistency, visually, seems to be a hard thing for them to always get right.

A lot of peoples faces changed between ME2 and ME3. Kelly Chambers for example:

And if you look closely, Barla Von and Shala'Raan also underwent drastic face changes throughout the games.

Inb4 better graphics let you change things you weren't happy with. They obviously weren't happy with some of the faces.
I like how you can actually judge the texture of Asari skin now though, just looked like a flat colour in ME2 and i miss the pearlescent effect some of them had in ME1.

"Those freaky eyes", to quote Joker. I have a better hardware system than I did when I first started playing ME1, and now that I'm getting back into the game those glowing eyes everywhere kinda creep me out. Although it's possible (probable if truth be told) that I just didn't remember them being that way.

Humans looked their best in ME2, but ME3 Humans look awful.
Also, on Aethyta, they tried to make her look younger because all Asari Matriarchs have to be ~young and beautiful~. I'm glad Benezia died in ME1 because can you imagine what she would have looked like if she was featured in ME3?

Plus female Shepard's Brest implants was the worst improvement as well. I was like what the ****?
Liara seems to have received a rather large boob job as well. Guess she had a lot of credits lying around after she became the Shadow Broker and figured, "Why not?"
