The novels released thus far in the Dragon Age saga (Asunder and The Masked Empire) greatly help expand our knowledge of the world and more importantly offer us insight and context to examine the various issues that will be dealt with in Inquisition.

In Asunder we saw the repercussions of the Kirkwall Rebellion, paving the way for the Mage-Templar war and the fall of the Chantry.

In The Masked Empire we learned more about the history of the Elves, Orlais and who the major characters are in the Civil War.

And now we learn of a new upcoming novel due 12 August  2014 called Last Flight. Our main protagonist is a young elven mage called Valya, recently recruited into the Wardens and charged with researching the history of the Blights and possible uncovering sensitive information regarding the Grey Wardens. Seeing our Inquisitor in the trailers attacking Grey Wardens is extremely startling. What possible reason would the Inquisition have to attacking one of the oldest and most essential orders in Thedas. Hopefully Last Flight will gives us answers, and who knows maybe even griffons!

My apologies to anyone who has started a similar topic. Your thoughts and comments are appreciated.

A female elven heroine, a mage, a grey warden, a story about grey wardens, griffons and secrets?

Personally I hope we don't learn about the Grey Warden issue until the game is out, I don't mind learning about the characters, but story plot I'd like to see for the first time as I play.

I don't know, but based on what we've heard in bring factions over to our side, I'm going to assume besieging the Wardens is optional

Well if this book brings to light possible warden issues and possible npc's that will be in the game, then I will get this book. I really enjoyed the masked empire. (Probably get it anyway, lol)

if its anything like the previous books and how they relate to the game, the secret we find out in the book will just give more context to what they are doing in the game but not the whole reason for what is happening to them.

I think this book will be more like The Calling. Calling came out before Origins, but applied more to Awakening. I think Last Flight will be geared more towards prequeling the prequel for DA4. I think the Wardens will be a peripheral part of DAI, with the main plot focusing in on the fade, and the various wars going on. I believe the story arcs containing the Architect (or his successors), Corypheus, and whatever secrets the Wardens having going on will be explored in DA4 rather than in DAI, including what is revealed in Last Flight.

The title makes it sound likes Griffons will be returning, which is awesome! But all in all I don't think it will reveal much information relevant to DAI.

Have this preordered on the nook. Was looking forward to the Griffons. Nook fell off of shelf and broke. One reason to buy paper. Still will be able to read in Aug, some way or another.

see, i think with them releasing 3 novels right before inquisition is fishy in general....  we know asunder and tme apply to inquisition, and maybe a a tad bit into the 4th installment, but why would they go out of their way to release a 3rd novel solely for the 4th, i think its gonna follow asunder and tme to setup inquisition... that way the only questions we have left are the breach and the main antagonist

Well, I expect the book to give us more insight into what's going on with the Wardens, certainly. However, I assume any conflict with the Wardens would probably be due to Corypheus's involvement, since DA2 left that open, and the note on the Inquisition map for Vinmark reads "Hawke attempts to destroy Corypheus".
