She never explicitly says she's looking for the warden. Cassandra says Hawke is gone just like the warden and Leliana says that it's not a coincidence. Whether or not your warden lives, dies, gos through the eluvian, or anything.

This is pretty much what I do not really understand. The ONLY link Hawke and Warden have (aside from name, if you are a mage) is that they both encountered Flemeth and if Leliana believes its not a coincidence, then its that singular link which ultimately led to both their disappearances (assuming Warden lives).

As for the other arguments that Orlesian Warden has a pull because he got something done (eliminated the last traces of the blight), I don't buy it. This is mages v. templars, we are talking about - after all the issues that happened at the White Spire, I doubt the mages or the templars are willing to listen to just about anyone.

if someone slapped you around real good and told you to sit down shut up and listen or get your ass kicked, you would probably do it

Not if they're Orlesian.

You seem to be serious.

I don't know who Gaspard is (I have an idea that he's from TME, right?). I'm pretty sure mere slapping wouldn't convince me though. Possibly threatening my balls with a pair of pliers would.

But then, I'd be no good to anyone - especially for a peace conference - if he went through with it. So he doesn't get anything out of it anyways.

first, read the book, second yes, slapping you around is just an orlesian way of saying he will cut off your balls with a pair of pliers

Is that a command? "Read the book". I will, but because I already plan to finish up the novels. Or are you saying "I highly recommend it", because it doesn't come off that way.

You don't cut off balls with pliers. You squeeze. ;)

Anyways.. this is getting silly. It's nice that you're passionate about this at least. Everyone needs a fan. Even the Orlesian Warden. I just wish they had a better personality than "they can kick everyone's ass!"

You don't have to be politically correct. You're just very terse. Hard to understand where you're coming from.

I wouldn't say the Orlesian Warden is a nobody. The Empress pretty much gave him/her all of their starter gear. I don't know much about Celene, but I suspect she wouldn't go out of her way to gift a bunch of prestigious weapons and armor to some random nobody.

Good catch. That's what I'd like to know more about. I wonder if her request is both professional and personal. Would at least add some spice to that origin (because otherwise, the Orlesian doesn't have much backstory like the others). Part of the appeal of the player character in DAO was the origin. This is what players end up talking more about than the Warden title. Be it Cousland, Aeducan, Dalish, CE, etc..

Now this link is where it gets interesting.

If the Orlesian Warden Commander was actually brought in because of Celene's Orders, then Witch Hunt makes a ton of sense. Morrigan, out of the blue, joins Celene as an Arcane Advisor to the Court at 9:37 (5 years after Witch Hunt poof) --- could the Orlesian Commander actually be asked/requested/commanded/hired by Celene to hunt down Morrigan for her own benefit? That was the motive of his/her, all along? HUM.

I still don't get why the Warden-Commander of Ferelden could have power to contain an international conflict - the templar vs mage war.

The Blight only happened in Ferelden. Yes, it's still a Blight, but the other countries don't owe the Warden-Commander anything. They had their own Wardens, lots of them, to face the Blight.

The Hero of Ferelden had the same conflict in a smaller scale during Broken Circle - so they can influence Mages or Templars from Ferelden - and no matter what you do, you are always in a good relationship with the monarchy. Plus the small Circle in Orzammar, if you help Dagna, and the possible support of either Bhelen or Harrowmont. That's a lot of stuff, if you also count the Dalish.

Unless someone is playing a very long game and wants to use the Grey Warden's privileges and treaties by faking a Blight or something.

To be honest, I thought those debts were already settled since all those factions went head to head with the Blight.

"You help us, we help you" Kind of thing - this is 70% of the game.

"Assuming we are playing a Martyr canon (which is the default canon according to BioWare), Leliana, at the end of DA II should not claim that she is searching for the Warden-Commander of Amaranthine. But people indicate that she does, so let's play with that."

Wouldn't that just mean that Warden-Commander from Amaranthe is Orlesian one who you can play in DA:A, not the your DAO character who beat archdemon?

It does; but it just doesn't make sense how mage/templar war can be stalled by someone who did something for the Wardens (no relation to mages/templars) in Ferelden. Hell Alistair would be a better spokesperson as the King of Ferelden than an Orlesian Warden.

True but Orlesian Warden-Commander might have some info too that Chantry is looking for ^^ Leliana and Cass taking intrest in orlesian warden would be most reasonable if players Warden sacrificed herself/himself, otherwise they are looking for a ghost XD
