We don't know any other character except for Varric so I see no point in asking such a question.

I believe in the Qunari philosophy - in that I don't kill what I can use.  The exception being when some companion is compelled to fight me to the death with no other way out.  My playstyle rarely runs into those situations though.

We know nothing about these companions yet, I can't even decide who I like let alone who I want to kill.

When it comes to killing a companion, unless I'm having fun in Mass Effect, or trying to tell a specific story, I don't normally seek it out.  But if I want to make a decision, let's say playing a Dwarf Warrior who doesn't care about the Maker, if I want to defile his Ashes, I will do so, regardless of Leliana and Wynne.  Or again, a Dwarf Warrior who wants to better the Dwarven peoples so I side with Branka for more Golems, I have no problems killing Shale.  Now I like Shale, so I won't likely take her on that quest.  Usually I will do what I can to make them stand down, but that's not always possible.

Well, my ElfQuisitor will be Chaotic neutral. So just stay loyal and don't try to trick a trickster and you wont get a fireball to the face, I say. :P

It depends. The game comes out mid-October, a stressful time at work and not one where I should be wasting my evenings in virtual mayhem. If I resist the temptation to play until everything has calmed down they'll be fairly safe. If I dive right in, well if I can't kill my real colleagues, virtual ones might be a good substitute.

If they f up like Anders did I would well it depends on the situation and how much I like that companion

Generally I try and avoid killing companions if possible (even one's I dislike) it just feels like I am destroying content. Companions are a big part of the game and usually there is not much to be gained by killing them.

Ofc that doesn't mean I won't kill them if I feel like it's what my character would do and if there is a reason too. Like Anders at the end of DA2, some of my Hawkes killed him and a few of my Wardens killed Wynne and or Alistair.

Most of the companion kill options just don't seem needed though.

Anyway the only characters we know anything much about are Varric, Cass and Viv and they all seem really cool so far.

I will never understand this.

We're gonna be killing human/elf/dwarf enemies by the truckload. It's suddenly an issue when it's a companion?

They're enemies and in that context the game forces your hand in order to progress- and frankly, the overabundance of killing things in videogames without consequences or weight is already a significant problem.

But wanting to voluntarily kill anything, or discussing who you'd like to kill as if it's talking about the weather, is pretty close to something psychopathic. I find this segment of the BSN absolutely impossible to understand, and I'll keep expressing that in all the random murder/torture/genocide threads that keep popping up.

I won't kill any of them unless they pull a Zevran, in which case they are killed and turned into a zombie slave before even recruiting them.

Cole in at least one playthrough if he gives me enough of a reason to.

Based on Asunder, my most ruthless anti-mage/ anti-demon Inquisitor will have no problem banishing him back to the Fade once I get around to playing him.

For the most part, the companions would have to do alot to get me to want to kill them.

No, but how is playing a psychopath any more fulfilling?

Games have had a problem for decades that the protagonist can just mow down other humans (or humanoids) by the thousands with no consequences, no thought for their humanity, and no weight given to the immensity of actually killing someone. This is mitigated by telling us they're evil supersoldiers or otherwise 'deserving' of that, but it's become an issue that murder in videogames is largely free of morality. Tom Bissell wote a good chapter on it in a book a few years back, and there are plenty of thoughtful reads online about how we never see the family of a dead NPC.

I don't want to play as a monk because to some extent we're conditioned to kill random mooks in games, and because in cases where enemies are trying to kill us back it might even be justified. But you can't deny that death in videogames is a hell of a lot neater and less weighty than in reality, and wanting to kill random people is probably a sign of some serious mental problems.

Solas definitely. Of course not right of the bat mind you(got to at least get to know him, cant let too much content go to waste), but the 1st chance he gives me a reason to(which he most likely would) hes done.

Why is that? I don't know a thing about him.... other than being bald.

Let me just say that, even though I find him somewhat interesting and if he even IS a companion, I'll be watching Cole closely and won't hesitate to stabbity stab him if certain elements of him "come out to play." That said, I'm really interested in learning more about him, maybe more so than the rest of our companions/npcs. The exception being DHMG, just because he's so pretty. <3 I can't wait to see what he's all about. ;)

Bald, mage and elf. I was willing to let the elf part slide but hes also a mage(possible an apostate/dalish-ewww), hes dead. That nicholas cage vibe aint helping either.

But why not Vivienne or DHMG then?

Or is it just the combo of bald/mage/elf?

He's not Dalish, is he? I thought only the Inquisitor is the potential Dalish mage.

He may be dalish, unlikely but who knows. It is as you say, hes bald, hes an elf and hes a mage. Ridiculous.
