I know it's just a game. It doesn't stop me from being slightly disturbed when people seriously advocate killing someone for the slightest of reasons or mod a game so they can kill children.

The Skyrim one I agree with you with, but the Fallout 3 mod I can sort of understand. "Bratty" isn't the term there.

Killing is a bit to far. I would beat them up perhaps, but not kill them.

All the times I wanted to knock some sense into Merril... and isabella for lying to me and leaving me to get my ass handed to me!

I usually shoot/stab her when she's doing her speech.

My Bosmer got her right between the eyes.

XD I wait til she sits down. Least she can be comfortable. :3

Agreed Maria on wanting to be able to tell them GTFO at any time though. That is much desired for me.

yeah. every one of them... not just the companions though. i'd love to kill everyone in the city, or a town or at least in a village. it doesn't have to be in combat. poisoning food supply, water or whatever (leaving Redcliffe to be devoured by undead) would make a interesting option too.

it's not because i hate companions or villagers. i just want to be able to do that and i want game to recognize such despicable actions. i want to be able to choose what person i'm RPing and shape this character more than just choosing between two styles of being goody two-shoes - sweet/nice and direct/aggressive.

EDIT:
besides it's illogical. not being able to kill companion or peasant. i'm soloing dragons ffs, why can't i kill some lame NPC?!

EDIT2:
Cole.
Spoiler
why is this such a big problem for PC?

i'd be a necromancer, kill cullen, then bring him back to life to kill him over and over

You're a monster! *weeps*

P.S. To be clear, I'm KIDDING. :/

I wouldn't kill any of the characters since I have no experiences interacting with them. The only two I'll know are Varric and Leliana and I really liked them both. Cassandra, I only experienced during Varric's storytelling in DA2.

Anders was the only companion I've killed. Loghain was never ever my companion so he does not count. Though I really did not like cassandra holding that blade on the inquisitor's throat, and I dont take things like that lightly.
But Ioved her in the movie and da2, so chances are im going to like her in da:I too.

To be honest It's just too early for this blood thirsty thread.

Well, Cole needed to murder to get his high and he helped begin this war so, he's squarely at the top of my **** list.

Right now, he is an enemy so, I don't see any reason for me not to murder him. I expect interaction with him as a Companion will change that somewhat.

OP, what's with you and your threads killing companions?

Anyhow, my vote is none. I will concede that there is a chance that a companion could die, and their death could be imported via the Keep into future games.

At the most I will dismiss one, unless they try to attack me.  Usually, they just sit on Team Benchwarmer until I have a session where I feel like trying them out.  I haven't had to do so yet, but who knows what Inquisition is going to be like.

I am so sick of armchair psychologists trying to judge people they've never even met based off their actions in a damn video game.

But you can if the person is trying to roleplay themselves in the video game. For a lot of people video games actually provide options to do things that they can't do irl without consequences or are simply unable to do in the first place.

And you have no idea of knowing they're roleplaying themselves unless they told you. And even if they were attempting to I highly doubt the average player has the combat skills among other attributes that the PC latently has.

Seriously you know NOTHING about the person you're attempting to armchair psych. That **** pisses me off more than anything. And the latter of course. I can play a female running around with a greatsword killing sexists douches with impunity. I can't do that crap in RL either.

I personally am not even trying to psych anyone, just saying that a lot of the things people do in video games, they would love doing for real. Why else play video games if rl is more interesting?

I would not enjoy killing people in real life because believe it or not video game death =/= real life death. It really doesn't. Now anyone who really can't tell the difference I feel pretty damn bad for them because that frankly to me is pathetic. But there is a vast difference between the two.

In a game though? Just combat. The one thing I would like in RL is the feeling of power I get from being the protag. But doing the mass murdering he/she does? Or dealing with the murderous psychos? Hell no. Being errand boy/girl for everybody and their mother? Nope. having to constantly fight for my life cause psychos wanna psycho? Nope.

Being a badass though? Sure.

But no not at all are a lot fo the things I do in video games I'd enjoy doing for real.

I'm glad I never had these arguments during pen and paper game sessions. Things seem to be more tongue and cheek and tolerated when face to face.

I can  see myself playing a character whose most likely reaction to Cole would be "You're a demon, huh?" *stab*

It really depends in what sense you are talking. Allot of people have fantasies but not all those fantasies are realistic wishes for their lives.

Sure, they want to be the hero but do they really want to be flung into a warlike scenario? Do they really want to go around actually killing people (bad guys or not)?

You seem to be saying yes and maybe some people really do want that but I doubt most people would.  I don't think you can just say the majority of people who play games play them because they actually want to do what the character is doing in the game.

*facepalms* You can not want to kill someone because it's a horrible action and messy and has absolutely diddly squat to do with consequences.

Not all, not for everybody, and there are plenty more different video games. Again if you are really ROLEPLAYING, you shouldn't tell the difference between death in a video game and irl, because otherwise it's not roleplaying.
