I often want to change the look of my character as time has passed or they just went through a terrible battle, so being able to change hair styles, tatoos, scars, etc. would be an excellent addition.

Bioware's CC has never been that great. If they had something like this in FF14, it would rock. You can check the character out in diferent environments and lighting in the CC. I hate having to restart just to fix something because it looks horrible in game.

I also liked that you could change the character's look in KoA, but iirc, you had to wait until you got a house, and that sucked.

Yes, i`d like this. It`s nice to have the option to change my character`s appearance without having to play through the entire intro. It`s also fun to change some things, like hair and scars, during the game.

Yes, I would like something like the mirror from DA2 to change my Inquisitor during the game. I'm also hoping to get respec potions again, in case I want to change my abilities.

I'd settle for a console command a la "~showracemenu" in Skyrim.

I would never utilize a drastic appearance change mid-game as that would affect my suspension of disbelief. But an option to change hairstyles or beards or add a scar or two would be cool.

Yeah, a face sculptor appears in the ragged flaggon in riften and you pay 1000 gold to change appearance.

Or showracemenu

That's kinda how I go about things. In DA2, I changed Hawke's and also added a scar after act 2...

That said, I don't feel the need to limit an in game CC to just hair or scars or makeup, etc. If part way through, someone decides they don't like their characters look, or just whatever the made in the CC didn't turn out as planned, I see no reason to punish them, just because I can't justify and in game reason to allow such a drastic change.

So yeah, I'm all for it. If you don't like the idea, you can ignore it, if you just want to change hair or add a scar, you have that option. If you want a complete retrofit, it's available. At the end of the day, everyone wins.

Yeah, I would be down with the change your makeup and/or hairstyle whenever you like - if we're going to be in Orlais, we might as well be fashionable. :P

First time I played ME1 I spent over half an hour in the character creator, only to realise a few hours in that I wasn't satisfied with the way Shepard looked. By that point I was stuck with it, and because I wanted to get to level 60 I was stuck with it on a subsequent playthrough. Same thing happened multiple times in DAO. So yes, I do want an ability to change appearance, so long as it's presented in a story appropriate way. I thought the Black Emporium mirror was borderline in terms of believeability, but had no problem with the facial editor in the Fallout New Vegas DLC Old World Blues.

I spent hours in front of the Black Emporium's mirror of transformation eheh. I was also very intrigued by Xenon and I would like to know more about how he became immortal and such.

I think it would be great to be able to readjust certain things, a la Black Emporium.  Life changes can change how a person looks via scars or even a hair cut.  Running all over Thedas can turn a body into a more toned body, etc.

Perhaps not to change someone from looking completely different but things like hair, scars and (possibly) physique would be awesome.

I agree with the Black Emporium method. Because it started you off with your current face, you CAN just change hair/makeup if that's all you think you should be changing... but it opens up options for others.

For example, in DAII, I have a mod that breaks down default faces so I can use their parts. This technically adds two presets at the beginning (modifiable versions of blood and no-blood), which means that all of Hawke's family 'moves along' two presets also - their appearance is based on preset's order, not any form of ID - and as such, I choose a preset based on family, then when I get to the BE go back two presets so Hawke actually looks like them.

I would like to see something like that in Inquisition.  I prefer to give my character the appearance of time passing.  It would've been nice to have that option in DA2 before they jumped to the next time period, but the mirror in the black emporium was good enough.

I loved being able to change my Hawke's appearance and I did so after the prologue and each act.  I just think it makes sense that he would change a little.  Nothing drastic.  Just small things like facial hair and hairstyle.  I just wish that there would have been an option to do so before the opening cinematic for each prologue, but I understand why it's not that way.

The other reason why I really like it is because it means that I don't have to restart the entire game if I decide after about 20-30 minutes that there's something a bit off in the way the PC looks.  I will spend 20-30 minutes sometimes customizing (especially in the beginning as I'm exploring options) and to do that, then realize that I just need a small tweak (like the spacing of the eyes or the fullness of the lips) is frustrating if it means that I have to start the entire game over.

Yes.

Especially if the character creator is placed in another broom closet with a single firefly to illuminate the Inquisitors face. For crying out loud Bioware, at least make the cc brighter so we can spot any flaws that will drive us insane before we launch into the game.

In my opinion, something convenient like the Mirror of Transformation is vital. It's not always easy to tell in the Character creator how your PC will look in the game world.

Not a full character customization like black emporium I think. Changing your face, eye shape .... etc.. mid game just sound so unrealistic. Changing your hair, beard or make up however, would be nice though.

Naw, sometimes you realized something about your character you just don't like but you don't want to start all over again so you change it.

Yeah. I know a lot of people did changes to their Hawkes to make them look older during each act, that would be pretty cool to do, depending on Inquisition's timeline. Or add scars after significant battles or somesuch.

Or just give 'em a haircut.

That's such a good idea, why didn't I try that?

Thanks for enhancing my roleplaying experience.

Once my character is set in stone the way I like her then I wouldn't change a thing after that. :D :) ;)

I used the Black Emporium mirror constantly throughout DA2, because I just could not get her nose right and it was driving me crazy. I really sometimes hate the character creator, because I notice another facial aspect in every single cutscene based on angle and lighting.

I really feel as if it's separate from the game, even though it's a place on the map. It's easy for me to suspend disbelief and say "this is how Hawke has always looked."

Yes I like the option for many of the reasons already stated in this thread.  In ME1 I had to replay the beginning several times whenever creating a new Shepard because I kept not getting the face quite right. I loved having the ability to tweak with the emporium.  I also liked changing make up and Hairstyle for rp purposes throughout the course of the game and sometimes I get bored with how my character looks and want a change.

The nice thing is that they don't need to come up with a new in-universe explanation.

Just make the Black Emporium itself (with all of it's oddities) available to the Inquisitor. Maybe the Antiquarian has relocated to some cave somewhere, or there's a magic portal that takes you there, or whatever. It's weird enough that it doesn't really matter.

They introduced a feature in DA2 that alot of ppl loved an used alot, regardless of what others think, for that alone it should stay a feature in the rest of the games

I adored the Mirror. The Cc lighting wasn't great so being able to fix a couple of things that I didn't like once the first cutscene went active (jaw size a bit to wide, nose the wrong length, skin tone off slightly) was really REALLY nice.

And while a couple of my Hawkes never really changed their looks outside of a couple of tweeks, there was one I played who started out with long(er) hair for act 1, chopped it all off by the start of act 2, and went with a ponytail in act3. It really lent to the character I was playing. She had made a bet with her brother that if he could ever beat her at something, she'd cut all her hair off -- and he beat her to death, so she honored his sacrifice by honoring her agreement. It was, at least for me, a really nice addition to rounding out who she was as a character.

Even if the cc is fantastic and I never ever find myself needing to tweak anything, the sheer opportunity to help push the story with neat character physical appearance changes are ABSOLUTELY worth having a repeat of the Mirror :D
