probably already mentioned but.. verric is the only dwarf in the screen shot with the companions, and if verric isn't a love interest that means no dwarf for my dwarf again.  does anyone think there will be one? or heard any rumor perhaps?

No rumors, and I don't think there will be one, unfortunately. Cullen and Cass are the only confirmed romances so far.

I think we will once again be left without a romancable dwarf . (Which didn't bother me at all in DA2, but just once it would be nice to play a dwarf who is into other dwarves and also have an ongoing a relationship.) There is a chance Varric will be a romance, we have no confirmation either way. There may also be minor NPC options like Gorrim or the noble hunters in DAO, but I don't consider those a very satisfying substitute.

 

I don't think there's a conspiracy involved, but I do think that dwarves (and qunari) are perceived as less attractive to most than humans and elves, and therefore more of a 'niche' option. In all their fantasy RPGs, BioWare have only ever given us human and elven love interests - the sole departure from that pattern was Valen Shadowbreath, and Tieflings are half-human.

I guess it'd depend on how well it fit with the lore.  How many surface dwarves are there?  In each game we've only had 1, with the exception of awakenings having 2.  Oghren left because he was basically an exile, Sigrun was Legion and Varric was born topside.  Would it make sense for a dwarf to risk losing his stone-sense to go help out the Inquisition?

Wasn't it hinted that Bianca was still alive? I'd love me some Varric but if if it was a choice between reuniting them and romancing him I'd reunite them.

It seems like there's a fair collection of surface dwarves seeing as how they have their own topside guilds and gangs.

I love how exaggerated it's getting with Gaider and dwarves.  Iirc, what he really said was something to the effect of "I don't want to romance a dwarf......" and now it's become, "Gaider hates dwarves.....!"

 

Anyway, Varric is the only dwarf AGAIN, so it looks like it's likely that we won't get a dwarf LI unless it's him.  I'm fine either way.  My second runthrough  with be a dwarf and I'm expecting that he will be going for Cullen (if possible!).

Varric and Bianca is a good story, but I don't see it as one with a happy ending. I would definitely like to see it explored more in the next game, because its theme of duty vs. freedom is a very compelling one, told from two very compelling points of view. But I just don't know if it's a conflict that will be comfortably resolved between those two characters. Choosing duty will always leave Bianca feeling trapped, and choosing freedom will always leave Varric feeling guilty. I'd love to see if they can find a reasonable middle path but I think the story might end with the Inquisitor letting Varric go to join Bianca, or reminding him that his real purpose lies with the Inquisition.

Because the dwarves are one of the only groups in Thedas I still give a damn about and i'd rather have a love intrest that catered to an aspect of the universe that I care about.

Because there has not been one in the other two games? The only other race that has no romance is of the Qunari as well.

I love Dragon Age dwarves, and I love Varric specifically. My first PC is going to be a dwarf and it would be nice not to need a step ladder for a change.

 

Also, there's never been one in any CRPG I can think of. Elves, tieflings, half-orcs, alien dinosaur-men and chicks with tentacles on their heads: yes. Dwarves: no. Novelty alone is enough motivation for me.

My dwarf Inquisitor would be willing to get over Varric for the right dwarf, only as far as we can tell there aren't any .

 

I mean, there might be dwarves around, but I'd think they have even less chance of being romances than Varric does since they're not companions/advisors. He's the only one who has even the slightest chance of being a love interest as far as we can see right now.

As far as I can tell people just want to **** everything that moves.... elves and humans have been covered so now they want dwarves and qunari, not that they didn't before.

I don't want to bleep everything.  but in my head cannon my dwarf only would date a dwarf. its fine if my dwarf has to remain single and a sexual, but romance adds another layer to the game, so i would like a romance for him/her.
