Well if the tradition is to continue there has to be some reason for the Inquisitor to disappear at the end, right? Since Cassandra said that the Inquisitor walked out of the fade I assume there is some kind of spirit within them that protected them, which would be how a rogue/warrior managed to circumvent not having a connection to the fade like a mage does. Final rift is kept open because the spirit is still within the inquisitor? Probably have to sacrifice yourself or something to ensure it closes for good? Cheesy/corny but hell i'm just procrastinating anyway.

Wonderful.

I'm going to just try to enjoy the in-between stuff of the game and try to shut my mind off about the implications.

Other possibilities:

1. You contain/control multiple spirits within you. The blast forced the power of many spirits into your body, it's why you can do what no other one spirit can. You are the guiding intelligence and all others are forced to do your will.

Cassandra: "So you are not allied with the demons?"

Inquisitor: "We oppose the demons and their masters. You oppose the Demons, You Oppose opposes their Master. Cooperation furthers mutual goals."

Cassandra: "So what do I call you?"

Inquisitor: "Spirits."

Cassandra: "I mean you Specifically?"

Inquisitor: "We are all Spirits."

Cassandra: "What do I call the individual in front of me?"

Inquisitor: "There is no 'individual' this body currently contains 1,183 Spirits"

Varric: "Let's just go with what the body was originally called."

2. The life energy/Dream potential of every single person who died in the blast (Which includes at least hundreds of humans many of whom would be mages) was funneled into you by accident upon their deaths. Your power is the full totality of every single person that perished in that moment.

3. 'Something' blessed you, a power equal and opposite to that of the big bad ensured you would have the power to frustrated their dark machinations.

4. You are and have always been a Dreamer, but your potential was untapped until the blast cracked it open rather violently.

I hope the inq. Is not possessed by a spirit - what an unoriginal and overused trope.

In all fairness I suppose it is a possibility but, I certainly hope that isn't the case. I wouldn't want to be either the Anders or the Justice part of that scenario. I don't relish the idea of being possessed or possessing someone. I'd like to be me own person thank you :D

my guess, You get possed by the "will" of the fade.

And I will cut everyone off at that pass here and say, yes yes, then that could mean that the "will" of the fade is the maker thus you become like Mr. J and blah blah blah.

It's possible, though one thing that is certain is that our character will be accused or suspected of being possessed by various people in game, regardless of whether it's true.

If this is an obligatory feature then I'm not playing this game. I've had enough of it from Anders in DA2.

As if being forced to say dumb things (like Shepard is) is not enough, now that the PC HAS to be mentally ill as well?

Hmmm...nah!

Personally, it kills the RP'ing aspect if I am unable to provide an origin for my Inquisitor(s).

You don't know how you survived, so you're either dead and possessed by a fade spirit (pretty unlikely, and by that i mean there's NO FRIGGIN WAY since Justice possessed a very dead body and didn't stop it from DECOMPOSING) or, the actually possible;

a spirit saved you Wynne style (on the cusp of death) and allows your non-mage possible dwarf characters to have a connection to the fade. If it's the case, well it's really pretty simple and not at all a big deal like some are making it out to be.

It's not possession and doesn't control you, nor is it the end-all be-all of your character. It's just kind of your pal who saved your life and helps you out from time to time until the day comes to exorcise him.

You can continue playing after you beat the game. Whether that's in the Mass Effect 3 sense of being pushed back to just before the big battle, or in the Skyrim sense of just continuing on after everything has happened, I have no idea.

I've been saying the Inquisitor is probably a displaced spirit with amnesia (Sort of like Cole) for about six months now.

As long as it doesn't turn them into a raging a****** like Anders then whatever.

On a side not wasn't there already an RPG that done something similar to this?

Most likely there is.

And if there isn't then guess what? An RPG that does exactly that comes out on the very same day as Inquisition. (Shadow of Mordor)
