Yes - the more I play the more Wynne begins to irritate. I don't take her with me when I go into the alienage anymore because of her comments about not dealing with slavers. Excuse me? Zev and Al at least sound as if they care. Wynne just sounds pompous.

Having said all of this I do love her little conversations with Alistair and his relationship with the warden, his dirty socks, darning his shirt and with Zev about her bosom. :D

Am I the only one who does not mind Wynne at all? I know shes a little preachy, but she means well. Not preaching to antagonize. Maybe because I grew up in a very closed knit family. And when my grand mother sermons me, it goes to one ear through to the other :-) still love her tho, I just dont do everything she says. Thats how I view Wynne.

Wynne annoys me, but I still do like the character. Heck some of the people I love annoy the living sh*t out of me quite often. lol

Nothing wrong when your grandmother does it.

Wynne is not your grandmother though. That's the first thing that goes wrong. She acts like you're just another Circle kid without a life or family of their own.

One thing that I hate more than anything is an outsider acting like they're family or close to me somehow. Go find someone like Alistair who needs this stuff.

Ofc she's not my grandmother, but I still cant help view her as one. And she is already doing it to Alistair. Did you miss that?

Except at Ostagar, when they kind of make flirty talk with one another, at which point she just takes it to a different level and says that he might wake up next to her at camp.

No, I didn't miss it. And I'm not even telling you what you have to view her as. I only speak for myself. My post is not about you. If you need a grandmother figure, knock yourself out.

I should add that I know it comes off like I'm telling you what to do, looking again at my post.

It's a mistake in writing. When I say "you" or "your" I don't mean you specifically. Just "you" in general. It's just a general criticism of her character, from my point of view.

On a sidenote, as much as I hate some of these characters, I don't want to kill them. I can't find a good reason to kill Wynne or Alistair especially (although I've killed Alistair by mistake once, because I thought I'd be wasting a boon with him).

Wow such hostility.

I was speaking for myself, hence the " I" cant help view her as such. And I genuinely thought you missed wynne mothering alistair about since you hate him so much that you point it out every chance you get. That "maybe"you dont use him at all and missed his banter with Wynne. Just like I dont know all the loghain banter cuz I never recruited him and not at all interested.

There's no hostility. Except against Wynne. I'm trying to express how much I hate her - but I don't want to bring other players into it. We all have our own gamespace, right?

But no, I didn't miss the mothering bits. That's partly why I mentioned it. And how he sort of acts like a boy and wants her to sew his clothes. She should concentrate on him. He seems to like that. That's all I'm saying.

I almost read that as "castrate him" until you edited to add "on" lol

I like Wynne as a character, but her "preachy" attitude does grate on my nerves sometimes. However, I found it odd that my current HNM character never had the conversations with her about being a Grey Warden and my responsibility and all that jazz. It just never came up no matter how many times I clicked on her. She still gave me grief about my love interest, but I never even had the conversation with her that I was a Cousland. I wonder if it was because I sided with the Templars with this character, and she didn't think preaching at me was in her best interests. :)

That happened when I sided with Templars too.

You may be right. You're not the "target demographic". It's funny that you get more grief by following the more soft hearted path. That would be the last person who needs her advice.

To be fair, Justice was never all that bad; he was just caught up in a world he doesn't fully comprehend, but insisted that he had no real desires of his own, other than wishing to avenge the body he occupied by killing darkspawn, presumably forever. It's too bad he was corrupted by Anders. I would have preferred that Justice simply leave for the Deep Roads and just continue to kill darkspawn until he was finally destroyed. Speaking of which, it's funny how Anders wigs out, goes into his Justice/Avatar state, and sets demons on you if you take him to the Deep Roads in DA2: Legacy.

Oh dear.  That scene.  I still wonder how the hell Anders was able to summon demons (without the blood magic he despises), unless I'm missing something in the lore?  I'm not an expert on the lore so I guess I could be missing something, or just wasn't paying enough attention in the DLC *shrugs*

Could just be him tied to the Fade, and lacking a sense of control. Not specifically summoning demons, but just chaos.. which makes it easy for them to slip through.

I get the sense that you're simply a rebel, Street, who dislikes people who aren't rebellious.

That's not fair, is it?

What are your feelings about Bethany?

I didn't see this earlier. Bethany's cool. She might not be rebellious, but she kind of just inhabits her own space. Maybe she holds similar ideals as Wynne, but she's not intrusive.

I don't know if I'm that rebellious. I used to be.

I don't take Wynne to Ostagar anymore on the strength of that flirty talk. She is grandmotherly (intrusively so) and headmistress and hearing about people she's bedded is creepytime. I do RtO now before going to the circle.

BTW I luv my gran :)

Yeah, I should say I love my gran too.

Funnily, she would have disapproved of me playing Dragon Age. She was hardcore conservative and didn't like me playing D&D. Listened to too many dumb preachers who said it was "devil worship". lol

Huh, that reminds me of my mom who'd never let me play Magic cards as a kid with my friends because she thought it was devil worship.

It's funny though... we didn't belong to a church, my father was a Hindu, and neither me nor my sister were baptized or raised in either religion.  She just perceived certain things as "devil worship" (like magic in fantasy and heavy metal/rock) and would ban them.  I still love her to death :P

Funny.

Although, I guess, technically you really can worship devils in DA. Maybe it's accurate. ;)
